General / can't configure retropie(ES) menu via AM Rpi 3

Installed fresh AM via binary source in retropies experimental packages.
When i'm entering AM and scrolling trough emulators and AM config and such all is fine and dandy, but when i
get into the so called ES menu or whatever you wanna call it and try to enter retropie setup or retro arch and so on.....it just won't let me in.
It shows me a split second of the terminal and sends me right back in to AM.
Any ideas of what's wrong ?
