General / Feature Request: Global Search between all systems/romlists
« on: February 20, 2017, 06:18:23 AM »
So we have the possibility to enable the Keyboard search plugin which is really handy (altough sometimes does not seem to give result) to search in a large system collection like Mame for a particular game title.

If you have lots of systems and collections it would be cool to have the above Keyboard search functionallity just not limited to the set you are currently browsing but searching among your whole collection. You should be able to start such a search from any screen.

The result could be simply displayed in a pop up box showing maybe the emulator or system folder its in to be able to identify if which game you are looking at if you have multiple versions across systems of the same game (i.e.: Mortal Kombat Arcade, Mortal Kombat Megadrive etc.) Then you could select one of the entries to directly launch the game with the appropriate emulator.

Not sure if something like this is maybe already considered for a future addition but if not i think this would be a usefull features.

Cheers

you have to edit the themes in hypertheme to make them look right....

Care to share how exactly? So far none of the hyperspin themes work for me as described above. Would love to know though what needs to be edited to make them work.

Has anyone tested this out yet or have screenshots. I'd love to see it :)

Well i added the themes and tryed it out but for me they don't work correctly unfortunately.

I downloaded the hyperspin.nut file and placed it in the appropriate folder.

I created a Hyperspin folder in the layouts folder of attract mode and extracted the themes there.

I tryed a few systems (the name of the system in the emulator settings in your Attract mode has to match the name of the hyperspin theme that you want to use exactly as far as i know) selecting the hyperspin theme but all i get is a black background in front of which i have the selection wheel with the appropriate graffix and thats all.

So for me unfortunately i only get a partial result.

Awesome work! Since i have not found any usable themes for Commodore 64 and the Amiga could you perhaps make one for those two one day? :)

General / Re: Slow performance on Pi3?

@2: Nope. Built Attract from source as per the wiki guide. Also HW accel is enabled in the display menu.
@1: Well all of the roms are on an SMB share as are the video snaps etc. Not sure what constitutes a less demanding theme since i thought the whole point to Attract mode is to have something more flashy then the regular emulationstation layouts.

General / Slow performance on Pi3?
« on: February 09, 2017, 01:53:44 AM »
Hi guys,

So i have been trying out attract mode and i have basically two issues which prevent me from switching from Emulation station completely. Maybe there is a fix for these or maybe its just the nature of Attract mode at the moment. Hopefully someone here can enlighten me.

1. Scrolling through displays slows down considerably after one or two scrolls. This happens both in the main displays menu where you scroll through the systems but then again also within individual systems when scrolling through roms. What happens is that after a couple of scrolls the system starts to wait a few secs before being able to scroll to the next item etc.

2. I noticed that when using attract mode my Pis CPUs are getting hot pretty fast. Normally in emulationstation CPU temp is around 50 C but even without playing anything in attract mode but just having it on with the menus the CPU temp creeps up to 75-80 C relatively fast.

If anyone has solutions to these problems i would appriciate the tips.

Thanks
