Hi progets,

Thanks for your suggestions. That is a great idea with regards to Xpadder. Failing that, the button will be moved.

Thanks

I have checked. I have Start buttons set as MAME default (5 and 6). On JPAC, holding 5 acts as shift. I have a shifted quit key mapped to Start 2.

If there isn't a way of setting Attract Mode to only quit back to menu after the quit button has been held for a few seconds then I will move the button to somewhere else on the cab.

Thanks for you help :)

It has been such a long time since I set it up. I honestly can't remember if the default to quit back to menu was on Attract Mode or a setting on jpac.

Currently, holding player 1 start then pressing player 2 start quits.

I am pretty sure it is an Attract Mode setting

Hi all,

I wondered if there is a way of setting the quit game button so that it has to be held for a few seconds before it quits?

I have had some 2 player games quit back to menu because both players have pressed Start 1 and 2 at the same time.

Thanks

General / Filtering question
« on: December 11, 2020, 02:37:28 PM »
Hi all,

I have a filtering question for Attract Mode. I am only using MAME on one setup.

I am trying to get it to display all vertical games, joystick made by Taito. I have set this list up for all other manufacturers and it works great. However, with Taito it misses out 4 games that I don't think had spinners.

They are:

Gekirindan
Grid Seeker
Gun Lock
Twin Cobra II

If I make a list that displays Taito, Vertical, Spinner games they appear?

So my question is, when using exceptions do they have to be listed before rules on the word file?

Would adding these games as exceptions force Attract More to ignore them as potentially having spinners controls as it currently only lists joystick games?

I have played all four and I don't think they used spinners. At least, not as a gameplay mechanic.

I am always on the hunt for new shooters to play and finding some not on my current list is great news.

Thanks

Hi all,

I have installed Attract Mode on a Windows pc. MAME was working normally on an LCD when launched through Attract Mode.

I have installed Groovymame + CRT emudriver and now all games don't run at full speed. They jump from 94% to 101%. If I launch a game through a command prompt (with Admin rights) it works perfectly. Which leads me to think Attract Mode needs a setting changed.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Cheers,

J

Edit: I have noticed now that Switchres stays at 640 by 480 when launching games through Attract Mode but with super resolutions from CMD line.

Does anyone know what causes this?

General / List filtering advice

Hi all,

I am trying to make some defined lists in Attract Mode (MAME, Windows). I am struggling to filter a few aspects.

So, I would like to make a rotary joystick list (midnight resistance etc), dual sticks (robotron etc) list. But I can't seem to find the words that Attract Mode needs (lists load up blank).

I have lists for joystick 2-way, 4-way, 8-way, lightgun and trackball. I just seem to be missing some key search words.

https://github.com/mickelson/attract/wiki/Example-filters

I used the above link for examples, but I can't see a way of filtering these types of games.

Cheers

Thanks for the response, keilmillerjr. I was considering shelling once I had everything perfect (I intend to add some console games, ones that are arcade control friendly).

If Attract Mode runs the desktop resolution and I can see the desktop before loading Attract Mode without that causing the screen to roll then I don't understand why Attract mode would when set to Full screen?

I am sure I have set something wrong in the config to cause this. What other options control the screen resolution?

Hi all,

I could do with some advice. I am running AttractMode and Groovymame on a Windows 7 setup in an arcade cab (15khz). I have CRT emudriver installed and everything works as it should and looks great.

I am attempting to completely hide Windows once Attract Mode has launched.

I seem to be having an issue hiding the taskbar when MAME games are closed down. I think this may be down to being unable to set Attract Mode to full screen. When I do the screen rolls like there is a V hold issue. I have tried adjusting the monitor at the back but this isn't the issue. Is there a way of specifying exactly the Res and Hz that Attract Mode uses when using full screen? Or is this another issue that isn't related to AM?

Does anyone have any ideas what this might be?

Cheers,

J
