General / Problem loading layouts in Lubuntu 18.04 (SOLVED)
« on: February 25, 2019, 01:34:32 AM »
Whenever I try and add layouts from my old 16.04 build they work fine if I enable them while attract mode is running but once I close attract fully down and relaunch I get an error after it fails to try and launch.  Trying to use the orbit theme for main menu and robospin_v4 for emu displays.  Any help on if I should find new layouts for this build or if I'm missing something would be appreciated, thanks.  I should also add that I compiled and there were no layouts available so I copied them over from my old build.

General / Attract Mode crashes in Menus Win 10
« on: September 26, 2018, 03:40:36 AM »
I can launch attract mode just fine and select English but when I go to enter any of the menus after hitting tab Attract mode instantly crashes.  I just acquired a used laptop and was used to Attract Mode on Linux so I thought I'd give Win 10 a go.  I installed basic windows, did some updates and installed dx10 then attract mode, then it would crash when trying to enter any of the menu selections with a visual c++ error so I updated Windows fully and the crash would still happen but it would no longer show the visual c++ error box now showing no error at all.  Then I thought I'd reinstall visual c++ so I did so and reinstalled 2017 with no luck of fixing my problem.  Any suggestions would be great.  I know I was able to use the --verbose line in Linux to help troubleshoot so I don't know if there is an option like that. Thanks!

General / Re: Update Linux version to make thegamedb.net scrape images?

Highly appreciate the input!  I will give that ago on another hard drive tomorrow.  When I first started messing around with my first version of Attract mode running the Daveg PPA I tried to do the compile and replace all the other files with the ones the compile made but that didn't go so well.  So this time I will start from scratch on the compile and move over my .attract folder set back up the emulators and I'll give it a go.

Thanks again!

Also, I am using the DaveG version found here http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=817.0 from what I read mickelson as linked to here has an update for the fix https://github.com/mickelson/attract/commit/fbef389de8725fd3228f3960cd9af63b31edae67 Now the question if that solves my problem does anyone know the best way to go about switching from the Daveg version to the mickelson without breaking everything?  Thanks in advanced again!

General / Update Linux version to make thegamedb.net scrape images?
« on: August 02, 2018, 08:25:07 PM »
Recently I have been trying to add some new systems to my machine and have been getting the 302 error when trying to scrape for new images of thegamesdb.  After some reading in a couple threads, even ones outside of here it seems that the url and api has changed.  I read in another post that a user linked them to the nightly windows builds.  I'm a pretty advanced windows user but a very basic Lubuntu Linux user and am not sure if I have to compile a new version to get it working and if so, if there is any easy way to go about that.   Much appreciated for the help in advance!

General / Re: How to change Background image in Display Menu?

Much appreciated for the help, I should have realized that when it asked for the filename it wanted the path to the file and not just the actual name of the file like test.png /facepalm.  You saying that the theme did not recognize the menu-art folder made me realize it had to be that I didn't have the whole path written out.  Thanks!

General / How to change Background image in Display Menu?

Using the "orbit" layout I'm having trouble adding a background image.  I've figured out all the folders to change the exit screen video, marquee and everything else.  Just can't figure out where to put the directory of the image that it wants the name of.  Thanks!

General / Having trouble upgrading to 2.3 or using wheel art SOLVED
« on: February 28, 2018, 02:51:19 AM »
So after some great help on another post about finally getting AM up and going I have it at least installed with emulators and most artwork setup.   I am currently having a problem with loading any wheel artwork.  I got the snaps and marquees loaded pretty quickly but  none of the wheels in the themes want to load.  I have tired numerous different places to have them stored in such as with my roms then pointing there just like I did with my snaps in AM using the $HOME but after reading and trying a few things another forum I read said the person had luck with putting them in the scraper and pointing the file there but I had no luck on that.

So after checking I realized that I was on the Daveg version 2.1 and wanted to try my hand at the new version thinking maybe that would help with my wheel art issue.  When I try and do the compile I receive a gl/glu.h error and from some reading it seems to be tied to OpenGL.  So I tried using a different ppa to upgrade to OpenGL 4.2 hoping that would fix what I needed but I was left with the same error while compiling in the end.

I am very new linux and have learned as I went along so if there is anything you think I am missing that would even be considered basic knowledge for a linux user please let me know because it may not be basic to me.  Both using Lubuntu 16.04 OS current specs we have are:

Dell Optiplex 380
2.93 E7500
1gig ram
AMD HD 6450

Dell optiplex 320
1.8 Dual core E2160
1 gig ram
AMD Radeon 6450

Playing the games on the older attract through Retroarch is no problem and even games I've tested up to Gamecube run fine.   Attached are showing the PPA I have for the new graphics drivers.  I took off the DaveG thinking that might help when I was trying to do the new compile.  Also wanted to show that the picture names for the wheel also match the names of the roms just like the snap art.  So again, any help on fixing either of these issues would be highly appreciated, thanks!

SOLVED:  After a TON of searching on how to fix the missing file I had to install libglu-dev then did a recompile and was fine.  Being a new Linux user the wiki was not very clear at all for mickleson on how to update correctly and move new files into place from how I was reading it or somehow my install was different than a normal experience but I had to point the desktop icon to the new bin file and replace the .attract files that were there currently with the new ones it put in the share folder.  Normally I would delete the thread but I'll leave it up in case anyone experiences the same problem.

Emulators / Can't get Project64 games to launch
« on: February 16, 2018, 12:47:37 PM »
I have no problem getting Project64 to launch on it's own but can't get it to load here.  I have the games showing up but when I hit enter to try and launch them like the mame games I have working nothing happens.  I have searched google for quite awhile to make sure i have all the info entered correctly.  If anyone can let me know what I can do to help that would be greatly appreciated!  I have an old dell optiplex 380 but again, I haven't had any problems getting it to run normally.  To be clear I have not moved around any of the project64 folders, i just pointed them to the correct spot, never read about having to do anything extra than that.

Emulator name:  N64
Executable:  c:\Project64\Project64.exe
Command Arguments "[romfilename]"
Rom Path: c\Project64\roms
Rom Ext: .zip;.n64;.z64;.rom      (All games I have so far are .64)
System id:  Arcade
Info source Scrapper: thegamesdb.net
Max run time:0

Again, much appreciated for the help!
