Dee2er over at arpicade has had issues getting attract-mode running with his Pi4... anyone know if Pi4 compatibility is being addressed... or will be?

Thanks!

« on: July 06, 2019, 06:31:06 AM »
I’ve discovered another small bug in one of my layouts.  This time it’s the Diamondplate layout and the bug had to do with the gameslist (logos or text) appearing through the marquee window when there is no art present (my test-bed has “NO ART” placeholders hence the reason I didn’t detect the issue prior!).  I figured I would take the opportunity to add controller and button info options as well as a few other tweaks while I was at it.  The result is Diamondplate IV. You can find the updated Diamondplate blog post HERE.

Great... so that's at least two thus far... worth at least keeping up. At least using the plugin won't hurt anything ... just disabling it goes back to prior behavior.

Thanks...

Now,  the tag files are "favorites" files,  right?  How do I setup more than one favorites per romlist or do I have to create multiple romlists (of say my full .208 romset) and then make a favorite for each?

It would be easy to make a ruby or python script create a tag list based on files in a folder... but why?

Edit: maybe I misunderstand. Have you seen my conversion of the all killler into attract tag list?

I have not.  Maybe I need to go back and re-examine the posts...

Is there a program that I can feed a list of games (even rom names) that will output an attract-mode compatible romlist on the other end?

I ask as KLOV maintains a "All killer no filler" multiple lists of games that has a batch file that will copy the specific roms in these lists to a folder.  I then need to be able to create ROM lists from that group of files or from the original list of files from within the batch file.

Alliterating through objects and changing visibility could cause issues with some peoples layouts. Thats why i choose to create a new look object, change z-order and properties on that. Will put some thought to best solution. Been working on shuffle. Last week was crazy. People quitting my work, people getting suspended, having to babysit and fix coworkers work that get paid more than me, and i drove to VT for washer and dryer getting 2hrs of sleep. Have a week off now. Literally slept almost all of yesterday.

Do you mind if I examine your code a little further frizzle?

Oh,  by all means,  it's not really my code... I found it (I think here) a while back and added it to me scripts depository.  I've tried to find the author (thus far unsuccessfully)... but yeah, have at it.

I'm only basing my "experience" with the plugin on my single arcade cabinet where it looks great using any of the layouts I've tried thus far...

Maybe I should pull the plugin if it's not working for other folks...

EDIT: Has anyone (other than myself) actually had success with this working?  I think there is at least one as they'd posted in the other thread about resolution...

A bug has been found in SDAMax II and has been squashed.  I've also added controller type and button number options.  More info can be found on SDAMax III blog post found HERE...

I'd love to hear from folks as well...

The only system I've tested on is a newly built PC MAME running a Ryzen 1200,  Radeon R7 250,  CRTEmudriver,  and a K7000 Aracade monitor.

Works as in the video for me ... I can change the "skin" to any...

NOW,  if you're using a layout other than 640x480 you will need to change the size of the images to stretch to match your layout...

...though now that I think about it,  I probably should have just used transparent PNG's rather than ones with black backgrounds... that way even if someone doesn't scale the image to their theme size,  it would appear correctly (albeit smaller surely)....

Thoughts?

Scripting / Now Loading - Plugin
« on: June 27, 2019, 05:43:21 PM »
Ever wanted an easy way to add a "NOW LOADING" type of screen after you select a game?   Turned off by having to futz around with Rocket Launcher to accomplish such a task?  This is the plugin for you...

"NOW LOADING" ... a simple plugin that adds a "NOW LOADING" screen when you select your game.  Includes 20 different loading screens to choose from...or you can add your own.

You can read more about it and download it at my blog site which is linked in my signature... or you can go directly to the blog post by clicking HERE.

I managed to figure out how to prevent the plugin from breaking the intro animation!

I now have TWENTY different LOADING screens to choose from and it appears that it works both in horizontal and vertical mode (vertical mode appears to stretch the images a bit but not too terrible)...

I'll be uploading shortly...

EDIT: Thank you for moving this to the proper forum...

;)

I am up to 18 different "LOADING" skin options... and I still haven't figured out how not screw up the intro animation ... yet.

Yeah,  plugins seem to work like layouts... but they appear to be persistent...so they are always loaded up.  So that loading screen is actually always present ... it just fades in to view when a game is selected and then fades away from view when system returns from an emulator.

I've not done enough hacking/playing around to know much more thus far.

:)

One thing I may look in to (since I already have the code that SHOULD work if I implemented it in this plug in... perhaps...) is the option for a different "loading screen" for each "genre" of game.  So,  for example,  if you click on a "fighter",  perhaps a CAPCOM themed loading screen pops up.  If you click on a "maze" game,  perhaps a PAC themed laoding screen comes up, etc...

The code I have pulls info from the ROMLIST.   This idea may work for different platforms too as the platform being used is also stored in the ROMLIST,  no?  At least the emulator is... right?

First...to figure out how to prevent the screen from popping up during the intro animation....
