Themes / Re: Hyperspin Theme Mode [Release v3.0]

Do the videos go in the same  attract\menu-art\Mame\themes folder like on windows? Just asking because my pi is in  the way,

I don't think that the fact you are using a Pi should matter, but I don't have a Pi so I may be mistaken.
If the mame.cfg file in the emulators folder points to the location where the themes are at then it should work.

Does this work on the raspberry pi 3? And if so where to place video snaps at?

Of course! This theme makes use of video renders of the original Hyperspin themes which looks exactly like the real deal. If your Pi3 can run Attract Mode and play videos this theme will work.

The download is now a part of the Great Themes Collection:

Instructions and links to download the videos:

Thank you but in all honesty I am done making themes. In the little time I have, I am also helping the pcca project as a non-developer to bring Hyperspin to AM so this is more then enough for the moment. I will be watching your group and will definitely try out your package when released!

Keep on the good work!  :)

Love it! Keeping it on my hard drive!

I also like the fact that you move the background only when navigating the wheel and not all the time - now it has a meaning and is not so difficult on the eyes.
The idea of animating the characters entering from the side is also excellent. The celebration of animation is still there but is used more intelligently.

I finally get what your themes remind me of - in the days of the Commodore Amiga there were a lot of demos, so much so that it was called 'The Demo Scene'. Your crazy happy bouncing all around themes remind me of the spirit of some of those days!  :D

Ok I got this running on my arcade cabinet. I also want to use this on my bartop running a raspberry pi 3. So would this theme work on the raspberry pi 3 running attractmode?

From what I understand pcca makes heavy use of glsl shaders which causes issues on the Pi3. A light version for the Pi3 is planned in the future.

One more question, when the wheel stops on a game it fades all except for the game/theme it is on. It floats or pulsates and i was wondering if i could make that fade as well? When i use like a dreamcast theme with boxart it covers some of the boxart.

I agree with you.
You can make feature requests here:

Place the game themes in the relevant system themes folder. If the roms have the same name as the themes it should work because I have it working here.
In my case, I have all the media on a seperate drive and in a folder called HS_Themes. In the screenshot you can see the path at the top of the window.

I am releasing 'The Great Themes Collection v5.2' which adds a gentle fading shadow to the edges of CRT TVs or monitors featured in arcade, console or computer themes.
It gives a nice authentic look to these type of themes and better connects the frame of the cab/tv/monitor to the games snap videos.

This is also the last release of this collection. I have achieved far more than I initially aimed for, learned a lot in the process and feel satisfied with the level
of polish the collection has reached.

All the best,

Thanks, You could just create a new Wheels option, in addition to the existing ones:
[Round, Vertical, Horizontal]

It's not that simple but you can try.

Are you the master of Layouts, congratulations, if you ever have time, could you make a layout with Horizontal Wheels?

Thanks but I am busy with other stuff at the moment. Maybe in the future.

Animation wise, you have the craziest themes on attract mode and I love it!  ;D
But there is a design flaw - users will be looking at the cartoon women's ass, not the games!  :D

This video is my favorite:
Mario jumping like he is on drugs and the dragon with the fire!! Hahahaaha it's so awesome! (where can I download these?)

On a more serious note, It's good that you are giving the user an option to change the animation background into a static image as these animaions are intense and it's very heavy on the eyes.
You should consider implementing it on all of your themes.
Waiting for the release!

I am releasing 'The Great Themes Collection v5.1.2' which includes the following:

- Added ability to enable mipmaping for high resolution wheel logos from layout menu. This largely eliminates any jagged edges that may result
from the high resolution logos.
- Added mipmaping to carts in some themes.
- Adjusted snap video bloom values in all themes and enabled snap video bloom on several old systems.
- Increased title text box size in all themes so game titles are not cut short (thanks to forum member HopHanger for alerting me on this issue)
- Replaced some fonts (thanks to forum member HopHanger for finding better ones)

Yes I see. Updated the font with the one you suggested, it's a better looking font anyway.

Similar issue with Nintendo Entertainment System layout. The game title Déjà Vu displays with some funny characters.

NES2 Font ( looks like a good alternative to NES-Logo.ttf

Interesting - I don't see anything strange on my side. Can you post a screenshot?
Also, look at your NES romlist - how is that Deja Vu game title formated?
