General / White border around transparent pngs
« on: May 21, 2020, 06:21:39 PM »
I've noticed in the newer Retropie Builds of Attract mode that some of my transparent .pngs now have borders.  I double checked the same .pngs on my Windows build and they dont appear.  I also checked to see if there was infact any white or colored pixels around the border of the images in question.  They dont exist but for some reason I'm getting this border artifact in Attract Mode now on my Raspberry Pi.

Further testing reveals that lower resolution wheel images are more likely to get this artifact.  So perhaps its related to how Attract Mode handles image scaling.

I'm sure this has already been posted but why is Attract Mode missing from from the Retropie Setup menu?  If someone could point me in the direction of how to compile on the Pi 4 that would be much appreciated.

EDIT / Found this :

EDIT 2 / Now I'm getting an error message when trying to start Attract after compiling according to the above link

General / Switch to Emulation Station from Attract Mode (Retropie)?
« on: March 21, 2020, 05:45:25 PM »
Is it possible to add a menu shortcut back to Emulation Station once in Attract Mode?  Ive added links to Retropie Setup and various other configs from Attract Mode but cant seem to get back to Emulation Station without returning to the command line and typing emulationstation.  Would like something slicker than that.

General / Windows .bat files wont load in Attract Mode
« on: April 20, 2019, 08:14:45 PM »
I cant get .bat files to load within Attract Mode.  They work within Windows fine but not Attract Mode.

Here is my Windows.cfg

Code: [Select]
# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.5.1
executable           cmd
args                 /c "[romfilename]"
rompath              \roms\pc
romext               .bat
system               PC Games
exit_hotkey          Joy0 Button6+Joy0 Button7
artwork    flyer           \Attract Mode\scraper\Windows\flyer
artwork    marquee         \Attract Mode\scraper\Windows\marquee
artwork    snap            \Attract Mode\scraper\Windows\snap
artwork    wheel           \Attract Mode\scraper\Windows\wheel

Also here is a sample .bat file

Code: [Select]
@echo off

rem Run game application
cd .\Blade Strangers

General / Attract Mode on Retropie Scraper still broken?
« on: October 11, 2018, 07:11:26 PM »
Apparently the Retropie version of Attract Mode still wont scrape since the TheGamesDB updated stuff.  I fixed it on my PC build but updating Attract Mode on my Raspberry Pi does not seem to fix the scraping function of Attract Mode.  Also why the hell is Attract Mode still "experimental" on the Retropie menu?  Do you guys have beef with the Retropie guys?

General / Weird bug when loading Windows game with Attract Mode
« on: September 07, 2018, 08:05:33 PM »
When I try to load Tower Fall from within Attract Mode I get a Windows 7 error that pops up with "No suitable graphics card found!"

Even weirder is that if I run Attract Mode windowed it loads fine.  I tried both Windowed no border and with and it worked as long as the window was not maximized.  When maximized I would get the same error message again.

Note that the game loads fine outside of Attract Mode and when Attract Mode is windowed but not maximized.  Its as if Attract mode is blocking Tower Falls access to my GPU.

Windows 7 x64 / latest attract mode / Game is Tower Fall - Ascension

Thanks in advance this is driving me nuts.

General / fbalpha CPS3 roms wont load in Attract Mode Windows 7
« on: April 26, 2018, 06:38:45 PM »
I'm completely stumped.  The fbalpha_libretro.dll core loads fine outside of attract mode but when I try to load it with Attract Mode nothing happens.

The weird kicker is the fbalpha2012_libretro.dll will work but wont load all my roms since its for an older romset.

Im running Windows 7 64bit
The latest version of Retroarch and latest version of Attractmode.

Below is my config

# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.3.0
executable           \RetroArch\retroarch.exe
args                 -L "\RetroArch\cores\fbalpha_libretro.dll" "[romfilename]"
rompath              \roms\cps3
romext               .fba;.zip;.FBA;.ZIP
system               Arcade
info_source          listxml
artwork    flyer           \Attract Mode\scraper\Arcade\flyer
artwork    marquee         \Attract Mode\scraper\Arcade\marquee
artwork    snap            \Attract Mode\scraper\Arcade\snap

General / Custom launch images for Windows like Retropie

Is it possible to setup a launch image for each system like the runcommand option in Retropie?

General / Hide console when loading and exiting roms? (Retropie)
« on: January 11, 2018, 11:56:12 PM »
I'm working on my custom front end and find it troublesome that I see the console briefly everytime I start and exit a game.

Is there a way to hide the console?

Also is there a fix for glGetError 0x500 yet?

Im running the latest Retropie btw.

Themes / Possible to make Robospin scale with aspect ratio?
« on: August 16, 2017, 10:42:44 PM »
I have been working for months on a custom Attract Mode theme based off of the original Robospin.  I'm trying to figure out how to scale the wheel images with a 4:3 aspect ratio.  I managed to get the cab (cropped photoshop), snap and background (cropped in photoshop) art to scale correctly but not sure what I need to edit in the layout.nut file to correct the wheel.  Other than intentionally distorting all my 16:9 assets in Photoshop I dont know how to fix this.  Perhaps someone verse with the coding used in these layouts might be of assistance. :)

Here are two example images of my main menu.

General / Cant exit Windows games in Attract Mode
« on: July 29, 2017, 10:37:22 PM »
Having trouble figuring out how to exit modern Windows games in Attract Mode on Windows 7.

Alt+f4 seems to be the only way to do that but is there another way I'm missing?

General / Hiding cursor when running Demul? *Windows 7*

Does anyone have a way to hide the cursor when running Demul in Attract Mode in Windows 7?

General / Launching Street Fighter V in Attract Mode help
« on: March 14, 2017, 10:04:20 PM »
Every PC game I have run with Attract Mode works great but whenever I launch Street Fighter V with Attract Mode my 360 controller still controls Attract Mode and SFV at the same time causing SFV to get pushed in the background and Attract Mode to either load another game or jump back in front of SFV.  Its really pretty awkward and I dont know if there is a way around this with a special command argument or something.

Thanks in advance

Themes / Visual editor for layout.nut?
« on: January 07, 2017, 11:08:15 PM »
Is it possible to edit a layout theme with a program much like one would edit a web page with Wordpress or Dreamweaver?  I know this is probably a stupid question but I find it very tricky to figure out how to edit this layout file without visually seeing changes made in real time.

I'm currently trying to make a wheel layout for Cave games and since they are all vertical I want the regular snap screen to be rotated vertically to display the videos that way.  The way I have it now it just puts black bars on the left and the right of the snap display and runs the snap vertically.  Which looks sorta bootleg to be honest.  In the arcade you would physically rotate the screen 90 degrees.  So your display size stays the same.  If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

I'm currently working with a modified Robospin Layout.

Here is what I have come up with thus far for this layout.

General / Kodi tied to Attract Mode install on Retropie?
« on: January 06, 2017, 08:05:39 PM »
I just uninstalled Kodi from my Retropie build and it somehow reset my menu setup in Attract Mode.  It didnt physically delete anything aside from my layout/displays configuration.  So I have to go in and manually add back in each wheel display and corresponding wheel theme for every system.  The same thing also happens when I update Attract Mode from the Retropie menu.  Its quite frustrating to have to do this everytime does anyone know a way around this?  I doubt I will get replies to this as I see Raspberry Pi support on this forum is sparse at best.  Perhaps I will have more luck with this on the retropie forums.
