Themes / MVSOps (CoinOps style theme with MVS cabinet)
« on: November 11, 2019, 03:58:49 AM »
Here’s an MVS oriented version of a theme based upon the CoinOps theme.

Its setup to use MAME marquees and flyers.  It’ll display a default MAME marquee/flyer if a game specific one doesn’t exist.

There are three color choices for the background image (blue, red, and green).

The download link is located here:

https://github.com/dmmarti/am-theme-mvsops

Here is a short video demo of it in action.

MAME flyers and marquees

Here’s a download link for optimized MAME flyers and marquees.  I found using too high of resolution PNG files caused the wheel navigation to lag a little bit.  I’ve resized the PNG media so now it’s more responsive when scrolling.

Place them into the appropriate folder and make sure to have your Attract Mode's emulator config file setup with the correct path for "flyer" and "marquee".

Thanks.

I’m not this best theme programmer ... so I’m sure it could use some more polish and a few tweaks. Hopefully though I got most of it all working good.

That’s the one I mentioned in my initial post (I just couldn’t remember what it was called).

I thought someone was working on one, but I never saw it was released.

Themes / Hyperflash - Hyperspin theme conversion
« on: October 25, 2019, 05:55:23 AM »
This is a conversion of an older Hyperspin theme called Hyperflash.  It was originally a 4x3 theme created by Sem Cranio.

I think someone here on the forum was working on a port a little bit ago, but I never saw it released.

I've re-created a similar looking background image in 3 different colors (red, blue, green) since the source PSD file could not be obtained.

The download link is located here:

Themes / Cosmic Rise - Emulation Station theme conversion
« on: October 23, 2019, 12:46:55 PM »
Over the past few years, I've worked a lot with Dwayne Hurst (the Emulation Station theme maker), and have ported a few of his themes to Attract Mode.

This is a conversion based on his Cosmic Rise theme.

There are two themes:

cosmicrise_menu - used for the main Displays Menu / Nested Menu displays
cosmicrise_systems - used for the individual system displays

They are for 16:9 formatted screens.

The download links are located here:

Themes / Hyper Themes - Emulation Station conversion
« on: October 21, 2019, 05:50:24 AM »
Over the past few years, I've worked a lot with Dwayne Hurst (the Emulation Station theme maker), and have ported a few of his themes to Attract Mode.

This is a conversion based on his Hyper themes.

There are over 175 backgrounds, but only 20 are able to be chosen via layout options to be permanently shown.

However, you can choose "random" in layout options and Attract Mode will randomly show any of the available 175 backgrounds each time you go into a display.

There are two themes:

hyper_menu - used for the main Displays Menu / Nested Menu displays
hyper_systems - used for the individual system displays

They are for 16:9 formatted screens.

Themes / System flyers - Unified style
« on: October 07, 2019, 07:55:47 AM »
Here is a set of flyers for use within Attract Mode.

\menu-art\flyer

I've used these with my modified version of Oomek's Silky Theme (which is an awesome theme!).

Here is the download link for them.

There are two versions.  A standard version and a bordered version.

Here's a quick demo showing the various flyers in use.  This is using my modified version of Silky.

Hey group,

I've recently created an Attract Mode theme to use on my Waveshare GameHAT portable console and wanted to share it.

You can download it via Github.

https://github.com/dmmarti/am-theme-gamehat

It's a minimal theme ... but easily readable still.

You can use it for any display (Displays menu, nested displays, systems, etc).

Below are screen snapshots (taken on a normal Retropie/TV setup - not the GameHAT since it's very hard to take live screenshots on) that will demo what it looks like.

To make use of the genre icons - your romlist files need to have the Category value filled in.

The screenshots show:

1) main menu for Arcades category
2) nested menu for Atari Classics
3) Atari Classics system menu

I re-coded my normal 720p system snaps into a 640x480 resolution to use on the GameHAT.

The game snaps are the SQ quality versions from EmuMovies.

If anyone wants my converted system snaps (there's about 270 of them - all systems plus a ton of collections)...I'll post the link as well.

Hope some find it useful!

I've never tested using that resolution .. but you might try my Unified theme I converted over to Attract Mode usage.

http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=2256.msg15267#msg15267

There's two downloads ... one for the AM main menu ... and one for the AM systems.  I use a nested setup...but if you don't, you might just need the AM systems theme.

The download links are in the first post (links to Github).

Emulators / Re: How is screen rotation configured for Mame Roms?
« on: March 20, 2019, 11:23:30 AM »
MAME itself (when launching the game) should display the game in the correct orientation.  You can press TAB to access the MAME GUI to alter that (or go into Retroarch if you're using a Retroarch based MAME core).

Attract Mode is just a front-end for selecting and launching the games, it doesn't do anything after the game is launched.

If, however, you're having game preview video snaps showing sideways while in the Attract Mode displays - then that means your MP4 file needs to be replaced with another one for that game.  Attract Mode just plays the MP4 file for you.  You can either edit your existing MP4 and resave it or get a new one.  EmuMovies is a good source for game video snaps.
