Themes / Re: [download v1.0] FLAT BLUE theme released
« on: February 15, 2019, 04:37:26 AM »
I contacted the author but as they never got around to the 2.0 update nothing ever came of it.

Well... I'm just sitting on it trying to find some time to test it before release. But maybe I simply release it as is for other to test it - and maybe even fix it.

Maybe I should put it on GitHub? Is this a good idea?

the tricky part it "...etc"

if you are asking if I can made a 4 more marquees - it will be hard for me to find some free time, but if you want 40 more it won't happen, because I don't have that much free time.

I'm afraid that you have a deeper problem - looks like AM is not configured correctly or not running correctly.
It's not the theme "fault". You have to figure out how to run AM with any build-in theme first.

My advice is to ask the "odroid gamestation" creator how to configure it and how to change theme.

what do you mean by "does nothing"

current theme stays the same? does AM work ok with other theme?
Or after you switch to NEVATO theme - AM just displays centered game list (that is a fail-safe view for AM when something goes wrong with the theme).

I've updated the download links in the first post.
And cleaned up the thread a little.

...and what's the problem?

it's not working at all?
other themes are ok, but this one is not?

we've switched the hosting - it's up and running - try again or empty browser cache

thanks - I'll finish the mockup and get back to you with the exact parameters.

It would be perfect - I just need that first chamfer to be deeper. Don't need that inner black border. But the chamfer should be the same width as the inner black border.

Build-in themes are purposely super-simple.

With heavier themes it's all about graphics card.
If you are on old Core2Duo processor with integrated Intel HD it can be laggy.
But anything more modern - you should be fine.

If you need more specific answers you have to be more specific - what hardware and what theme.
And if you are set on specific theme - it's best to ask in that theme thread.

I'll assume you running it on RaspberryPi - right?

So just search for the theme that is tested or created with RPi in mind.
RPi is underpowered for heavy themes.

And by "heavy" I mean the themes that:
- displays a lot of media (videos, wheel, flyers) as RPi is slow with loading them, especially if you are scrubbing through the list
- use a lot of calculations (mainly using surfaces)

If you are creating the theme by yourself - stay away from surfaces if you can.

I've downloaded it - but it's cut too much from the bottom and the top and also the texture look fake - like painted.

I have one that is perfect -
Maybe without the texture - but I can add it.
But it's too low resolution for my purpose.

I don't have anything yet, but I'm thinking about something hyper-realistic 4k like real-life machine bezel, with the theme look continued into mame bezels.
But I didn't started yet - and I have to test if the bezel will be constantly visible when transitioning from AM to mame. If it flashes or goes totally black when switching it will ruin the whole idea of immersion. Or maybe I can put something in between like rocket launcher overlay but I haven't tried it yet (Plus I'd have to switch to windows :o) .

I'm looking for a good quality image of black plastic bezel around monitor for my new theme.
Something like the attached image - but I need 2D front view

  • the bigger resolution - the better
  • looking for that orange peel texture
  • black
  • inner window cut-out can be rectangular with rounded corners (preferably, but kinescope shaped curves are also ok)
  • can be a part of bigger image - I can cut that out cleanly

Actually I've put some effort to remark every setting and section in the layout.nut in NEVATO.
So finding the place shouldn't be hard.

Tweaking the coordinates - that's another story. :D

Just like I thought... it must be my ancient AM version, not mac thing.
I'll report the success after I upgrade AM :D
