cocktail build
« on: January 29, 2017, 05:31:28 AM »
Hey guys, new poster here.

First off I would like to say, I have been looking at videos for attractmode and its quite impressive.

I was thinking about using a raspberry pi inside of a cocktail cabinet that I plan on building. What I was looking to do is only include MAME vertical games (I think thats what they are called) that
you would typically see in a cocktail cabinet.

I don't suppose there are any builds out there that are similar to that idea?

Any guidance towards starting in the right direction would be great!  :)

AM Version : 2.6.1
Input : Mad Catz Brawlstick; Mouse; Keyboard; Xbox360 Wireless
Cabinet : Yes
OS : Windows10 Pro
System : Dell Precision T3500 ; Intel X5650 ; 12GB RAM

Yes, it's built in. You can simply create a global filter like this.
Code: [Select]
rule                 Rotation contains 90|270

Hmmm. Okay so set filters to get the specific games I want. What about MAME? Does it know to rotate the game to switch players?

No, you'll have to configure this in the MAME emulator you're using, it doesn't have anything to do with Attract-Mode. Some games will have a setting within the MAME setup menu for cocktail mode.

If you really want to get serious, look at romlister to build a list that will be ideal for your system. https://www.waste.org/~winkles/ROMLister/

For a cocktail, I'd probably just add roms that you know rock as a cocktail. Nothing is worse than sitting at a cocktail and have games that seem more like they should be on an upright machine.

Progets: thats perfact tyvm. I'll use that romlister for sure. I'll have to learn how to use MAME on my raspberry pi. I have only messed with the settings on my windows MAME, I dunno if its any different.

Keilmillerjr: For sure, I have a stand up arcade for everything else. I want this to be strictly games that are played on a cocktail.

Is Attract Mode like Hyperspin, like it has a main menu wheel for consoles etc. and then a subwheel for the games?
I would like to get rid of that somehow if so. I would like it to launch right into games, since its basically going to be all MAME anyways.

Yes, you can have Attract-Mode only show a MAME wheel with no other wheels or system display menus.
