Are there any pc users here
« on: May 29, 2017, 04:42:13 AM »
Just wondering if any pc users are here.
All i really see are raspberry pi topics.
I started using attract mode on a pi inside a bartop.
Now converting my htpc from hyperspin/rocketlauncher to attract mode/rocketlauncher.

Mostly curious cause id like to find some layouts for systems not available on the pi like wii wiiu, ps2, gamecube......
I'll be making some shortly.
Thought about sharing them but wasn't sure if there was any demand for this due to the lack of windows pc users

Yes there are many of us pc users on here and s lot of the older threads are pc related information. Besides the pi is good for many games / systems but not like a pc you can just get more out of it..of course ;) It will be awhile before a raspberry pi runs Killer instinct at 100% or Street Fighter EX plus Alpha..or systems..3DO will not work and Sega Saturn or Sega Dreamcast struggle on the pi.

(the code in advmame will not run killer instinct at %100 and the developer can't figure out why (although it works fine in window, DOS and MAC). As for all the other emulators the pi is just too weak. And you need at least a icore3 and DDR# ram to run street fighter EX plus alpha (ar any of the games from that system. Most of those games are Playstaton 1 based games..which the pi handles very well.

As for layouts most of the layouts will work on a PC even if made for the PI although it might "look weird" ans some layouts that are made will only work on a PC as they are too hard on the pi. (too slow or too hot)

I wrote some guides here read them over if you need help or have questions. Remember this is all for PC NOT a raspberry PI!
I have a controler setup trick I need to post for mame too.

Happy Gamimg!

Do any of you guys use rocket launcher?

I have about 5tb worth of emulators, games and media.  The switch to attract mode hasn't been to bad but taking some time to get everything looking and working like i want it to.

Lol.
Needed a break from vp so I'm switching my hyperspin setup to attract mode.

I'll be making tables again as soon as i get all my sysystems up and running on the htpc

*looks at you in awe*...I want to build a pinball table sooooo bad..but dang they are pricey! lol

I need to buy a windows 7 disc too..before they become scarce....seeing as how it's all windows based (I use linux)

I've thought about going there and downloading all the tables and stuff and making a backup of everything till I can get everything I need to build my table...anyway back to the topic..

Rocket Launcher? Hear of it don't know what it is... "ok google..what is.. (heh)

OK so it's basically a wrapper for launching your emulators?....

I'll fire up a virtal box later today and see if I can help you out...honestly though I have never had a need for a wrapper with Attract Mode..mamewah..mala..yeah but never attract mode....but I don't run that many emulators either...I could see DOS Box needing a wrapper (as an example).

I'm one of the visual pinball table authors.  So i build the vp tables.
Had a virtual pincab but to to space had to sell it.

I pretty much am using rocket launcher because i had a fully functional hyperspin setup that used rocket launcher.
It's nice because it does the neat loading screens and bezels and what not.

But hyperspin runs so slow on my htpc.
Attract mode is lightning fast so i want to switch over.

Ricket launcher is nice also because there is no emulator configs really,  just point attract mode to rocket launcher and it handles everything.
And i already have all my romlists i just need to convert them from hyperspin xml to attract mode

Yes, I use RL (RocketLauncher) to make it easy to leverage many FE (front ends). Here's a link to the plugin if you're interested http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=858.msg6557#msg6557
