Trackball with extended hdd

Hi guys!

I got a ps2 trackball connect to a usb converter and then to the raspberry 3.

The trackball only works fine when the usb hdd it´s disconnected.
I assumed it´s a power problem, but i don´t know how to fix it.
Any suggestion?
It´s possible have trackball and hdd at same time on the raspberry?

I would guess it's a USB power issue? Pi's are well known for having those, especially if your harddrive doesn't have a power supply.

I'd try a powered USB hub.

Also, if you're using a laptop style external harddrive, and it has a power port that you're not using, plug that into power. Careful about finding the right one obviously.

Certainly, it´s an usb power issue.
But it´s a strange problem..i will try to explain you.
My hdd it´s a multimedia woxter. (piroms, 400 gbs on it  )
The hdd only power on if you connect the power conector. 
When the hhd it´s running on retropie, everything seems to be fine, because the trackball switch on all lights, but it´s not recognized, and nothing works on the trackball but the lights.
Things change if i connect everything on the raspberry (usb-keyboard,gamepad,etc.), but not the hdd, the trackball works perfect.

I will try to connect ps2 trackball to the ps2 converter and then to a usb powered (3,7-5v) switch and then at least to the raspberry.

Awesome! this really fix the problem!!!

4,5 volts on usb-switch power on. And i got this mess working.
ps2 trackball--ps2/usb converter---the usb 4,5 volts switch (aka "the angel")---the raspberry pi.

So, let´s play marble madness! thank you so much!!

Edit:So..in the photo the switch usb it´s powered...here you can see all the materials i need it(not  the wood box ).

Wood box it´s from my mom 
The trackball it´s something cheap, but works very fine. It´s not a ultimarc or something professional.
No words on the trackball, it´s from china.
When you press one of the three available buttons, the light changes from green to red.
Depending on how you position the trackball..the light goes directly (aaaarghh!!!)to your eyes, or to the screen (double aaaargh!!). But i´m happy with it.

The button, i bought the same day with the trackball, (spanish arcade items outlet, it´s a page i think i can´t write the direction here,sorry about that). it´s very hard-pressed , it´s not good for play schmups at all, but it´s good for give credits-pause etc.
The micros are the same than other buttons.

And the tapper-ware, what can i say!?
