Editing Rom Lists/Favorites RetroPie
« on: November 04, 2018, 06:02:31 AM »
Good Morning,

I've been working on setting up a bar top arcade that is suitable for kids (6-10). I've managed to get everything wired, controls set, and the Wolfanoz 32GB arcade only image installed. We can now play games, but i need to remove several to make it more age appropriate. Realistically i would like around 20 games left in. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the favorites list, or remove the custom collections. I thought i had favorites figured out, and that F would remove or add, but when i hit "F" it simply asks if i want to add. I also went into the "Favorites display utility" and removed all favorites, and they still show.

Any ideas? I'm guessing this is a pretty simple thing i'm missing, but sometimes the most simple answer is the hardest one to find.

Thanks!

I should probably add, i'm using retropie on a pi 3 B+; i've also set up SSH (i'm guessing i need that for editing lists).

This thread a few months old at this point, and I had kind of figured out a work around. Now, i'm back to square one.

I'm running the Wolfonoz 32GB arcade only, and I cannot get favorites to save anywhere. I've managed to clear the Favorites wheel thats in by default, but when i add a favorite it doesnt show up. If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.

So i feel like i have moved in the right direction, but still having issues. I was able to clear the Favorites list by doing the following:

"Attract Mode Favorites Display Utility"
"remove all games from Rom List"
navigated to attractmode/romlists
found favorites.txt
confirmed it was clear (Previously had every game in list)
went to game list and started adding favorites
went back to "Attract Mode Favorites Display Utility"
selected "Favorites display - generate new romlist"
got the following messages:

"RM: cannot remove 'favorites.tag' no such file or directory"
"ls: cannot access '*.tag: no such file or directory
"cat: favorites.txt: No such file or directory"

navigate back to attract mode and list is still empty.

Can anyone put me out of my misery?

I used retropie for 5 minutes and didn’t like it, so I’m not sure what the scripts and such are. Perhaps your display is using a filter with a tag list that you removed? Create the file and try it. If it still doesn’t work, post your attract.cfg file.

Disk images are copies of a disk. Copying over a disk erases its prior contents.
