Scrapper and metadata
« on: March 14, 2016, 11:40:00 AM »
I ve got a history.dat from here http://www.arcade-history.com/?page=download , works for the mame games.

I ve added NES games and I used the scrapper for the NES games.
When I press H I get a message that could not locate the game. (NES)

How exactly does the scrapper get that data ? or if it gets it at all...

It works for mame because you have a history.dat for mame/arcade. There is no history.dat for consoles that I am aware of.

The scraper I believe just finds artwork and such. That can be downloaded, stored locally and used without a scraper. However it is a lot more convenient! :)  You can also back what the scraper brings down so that don't have to re-download it...much faster!

Emulation Station will grab game information with its scraper but it is nowhere as complete as mame's history.dat. Pay will work on that I am sure..after the "more important things" are finished with attract mode.

akafox,

When I view the history.dat file available here: http://www.arcade-history.com/?page=download it includes consoles.

The $info=romname works, but the romnames are so far off from what are generated for consoles when I use the system it only seems accurate for mame entries...maybe there is a workaround, or a lot of editing required to match...
