Saving Game Edits
« on: January 26, 2017, 04:53:35 PM »
Hey peeps,

Currently, I'm using the Flat_Blue theme and it's fantastic. I'm manually editing a few console games, just to add the year or manufacturer. I usually do this by pushing ESC and Down. However, the settings will be erased when I generate a new rom list each time. Mame works fine and I don't have to edit anything. But for other emulators like Mednafen, how can I permanently save the game information?

You shouldn't need to enter that information at all if your emulators are setup properly in AM and you're connected to the internet when you build the romlist. These fields should be automatically populated.

Here's how to fix your emulators in AM to get this data. You'll need to do this for each emulator/system. I will show you NES and Genesis in the examples.

Configure-->Emulators-->Nintendo Entertainment System (your name for it)
System Identifier = Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
Info Source/Scraper = thegamesdb.net

Configure-->Emulators-->Sega Genesis (your name for it)
System Identifier = Sega Genesis
Info Source/Scraper = thegamesdb.net

System Identifier is the exact name of the system used on thegamesdb.net.

Once you have made the changes you can generate a new romlist and you should automatically get the the year, genre, number of players, etc. for your games.

You are correct progets However sometimes the information as not scraped I've noticed. I add stuff manually all the time.

That is strange though..No matter how you edit the information it shouldn't be erasing anything. What operating system are you using?
