Hi community!
I'm setting up a new arcade cabinet for MAME games using an old PC (Pentium E5300) with Windows 7 (32bit).
I experience a strange delay while navigating on AM menus, any of them: General, Scrapper, Emulators, etc.
When entering on a menu item the front-end freezes for about 6 seconds, then the following menu (list) is displayed and the vertical selection within it is normal, but when selecting an item it freezes again for 6 seconds before displaying the new list. The same behavior occurs when going back to the previous menu list.
It's my first installation of AM, so I don't know really where to look.
Things I've tried:
- Fresh Windows installation with updated drivers.
- Run: attract-console.exe --logfile log.txt --loglevel debug
No apparent errors or indications of what happens during those 6 seconds, just see "normal" [Transition] entries
- Tried installing a modest (and old) Graphic Card i had at hand (a Geforce GT 710)
- Re-started a new configuration from scratch unziping AM to a different folder.
- Tried some old versions of AM: 2.3.0 , 2.4.0 , 2.5.0 , same result.
The hardware is:
- CPU: Pentium E5300
- Mother: Gigabyte G31M-ES2L (Intel G31)
- RAM: 4 GB (DDR2)
- GPU: Intel G31 Express or MSI GeForce GT 710 1GB
- OS: Windows 7 32-bit
I'm new to Attract Mode (but I've I've used MaLa on Linux and GameEx on Win in the past, so I'm fairly used to setup different mame frontends, also I'm a sysadmin so can look into log files and do some basic software troubleshooting. But definitely not a developer.
I tried Attract Mode on my laptop first (more modern hardware) and all went very well, so maybe it's related to the mentioned hardware?
I appreciate any suggestion and idea on what to do, it's very annoying to have such delay, specially during the setup phase.
Thanks!
Javier.
