to set up my own Artwork: Do I have to change my artwork to the rom name or do I have change the rom name?

You could do either but best practice would be to change your artwork names to match the rom names.

It will be a bad idea to change the rom name if you are following a set like no-intro or redump. Online sources (like scrapers) are either rom name based or crc based.
