Firstly, a massive thank you to Jedione for hooking me up with his version of Arcade Wall, that he has been working on.
Secondly, sadly this demo is not using the official AM build that you download from the website, it is using a custom stripped down version with new modules. The current AM version cannot handle these modules, and will not work on a normal build.
Thirdly, the graphics are not where I wanted them, E.G I was aiming for 4K resolution, but that would cause issues and slow downs with the video snaps. As it is trying to play three videos at once. I then went to 1920 x 1080 with cabinets at the same resolution, but once more that caused issues with the videos stuttering. The only option was to reduce the graphic size even more, and so far touch wood no issues on videos stuttering. I am using this on a 43 inch 4K TV at a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and it still looks very good and acceptable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpnNkNvE_oQThe downsides to skinning in this manner is thus
1) You cannot grab artwork from CoinOps, Launchbox etc and plug and play. You need custom graphics packs, or to make your own.
The benefits of doing it like this
1) Fast scrolling and fast resuming of playback on videos
2) Search makes scrolling not needed. If you know your game name, then pretty much it is instant.
I still have further testing to do, Atomiswave is only about 33 games, so MAME will be my next target where I have around 13,000 roms.
I am looking at doing two versions, one for the unofficial build of AM, and also one for the official build. However, with the official build it will only have one machine instead of three.
Once again, many thanks to Jedione, as I wouldn't have been able to have done what I wanted to do, without him and his code.
Regards
Mark
MAME TEST 13,000 ROMSI am just doing some testing using the same set up with the same skin, no additional graphics. A lot of slow downs in playback, especially if you do a search for 1941. I have just tested with the original skin, and still slow downs. It might be a computer memory issue as I have been using photoshop and other programs, but other videos will play fine, it could be a video issue with that file. It could be needing less slots to be loaded, or even more to be loaded. I shall do a thirty second shut down, to clear the memory fully, and give another test.
I had downloaded the MP4 Hi Quality video snaps, and then the mp4 HD from emu movies. I was replacing the HIQ with the HD and was seeing videos freezing up, I have replaced the HD with just HIQ and that seems to have cured playback issues.
Sadly, the higher the quality, the more that it will cause issues.
