Question About Theming and Artwork for Attract Mode UI
« on: December 11, 2025, 01:30:04 AM »
Hello everyone, I am new here and very interested in using AttractMode for my arcade setup. I enjoy how clean and smooth UI looks when attract mode shows game lists and artwork. I am learning to customize themes, transitions, and background images to make my front-end look better. I have a small question about art style planning. In my real work sometimes I do painting estimates for home projects, like how much paint and time I need before I start. So I think same idea could help when planning attract mode artwork maybe estimate how many background images, banners, or custom screens I need before I start designing? Does anyone here plan UI artwork first or do quick estimation before creating all theme images? Any tips on organizing theme files or deciding number of assets before completing theme? I want my setup look tidy and nice without too much back and forth. Thanks very much for help and happy gaming!

The Question "how long is a piece of string" comes to mind.
Each layout can be as simple or as complicated as you want. If you have scraped all your games, you willl have Fanart, snap, boxart, marquees etc. So start from there. You can make your layout just out of these. Maybe you want a custom background, are you doing a menu layout ( for multiple systems) or single layout for games. Sometimes i just start from nothing and just start adding things to see how they look, somethmes i
do a photoshop mock up if i have a specific idea. I started by looking at lots of different layouts, grabbing a few to see how they were coded and changing a few things. You can literally make what ever you want.
