I use pc Linux os.
The 32 bit lxde build I'm working on now boots to. About 150 MB use and when I switch to fluxbox and turn of non-esential stuff it'll run just fine on a p4 with 512 MB ram and advmame. 106.
Attract needs at least a radeon 7000 to run the basic layouts.

After I get everything autoloading and trim the Dev files to shrink the iso I'll provide a link.

I tried your new layout omega man. I had the same problem as with the old one  :o

There is a live CD floating around the forums actually. I tried it in a virtual box but all it did was lock up after install and reboot. I tried using UCK to make a "Live Attract Mode CD" but it always cried about something. I'll try again maybe.

As or FreeBSD. Yeah if you can awesome! (A BSD cab will run better on older hardware...and faster on newer hardware). I tried that in a virtual box but can't figure out how to install everything i need to compile it. :o took me two days to get x running and my mouse working THEN I loaded mame (THAT way easy) but when I tried to compile Attract Mode I got lost lol. Might try that again too *shrugs*

Thanks for the update man. Right now, I am hanging my head in shame, LOTI...  If I do install BSD or linux, I need to break out the old reference books and prepare for battle. On the plus side, I won't have to cry trying to get sound to work like in ye olde days.  :P

 in ye olde days? Are you suggesting that we are older than a commodore 64? :P Compared to the way technology ages we are still 15! lol

Yeah, I think i know why my remaster doesn't work on a virtual PC.
Same reason it does the blank screen on most laptops with onboard video.
I made it with radeon drivers loaded.
But it usually works from CD or live USB.
Usually. :-)

what graphics are you using and driver?
My current 32 bit test system is using onboard Intel and am just segfaults with most layouts but the basic one.
Need to get my 64 bit with dedicated graphics hooked up so I can test this.

Yeah it's a laptop with integrated graphics. 64-bit mint 17 for the OS. i-nex says "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller"

Yeah the PC I'm testing on I bought for $12 at a thrift shop with only PCI slots.
Pentium 4 2 GHz though.
Its a dell. :-)

Tiny board, tiny power supply planing to use it in a CRT PC monitor bartop.

very true omega lol! but when it's all you got..it's all you got. The nvidia card in my desk top works like crap full of green splotches. so I have to use on board on my desktop too.

Ok So I tore apart the layout.nut file and was messing around with it...got it display right..but I wanted to see the wheel and list and stuff before I went on. You had said that you had it that  "weird" resolution because you didn't want the wheel to look squashed. But I just took the list code from the basic layout just to test...well you can see from the screen-shot that the list is underneath the background!  :o  ??? So now what?

Tweak the conveyor section to move and size the wheel art so its proportionate to your layout. Just keep in mind, the Wheel_x value 350 is the selection position. Also, change the snap coords to move the snap into the frame on the BG. I wasn't using the list but that is your prerogative of course.

Well no I don't want to use the list..I like the wheel...I was just pointing out the fact that the background is covering all the text...could that be why nothing shows up? The background is the right size...but I get just that..and snaps in the "window" with your layout...but no marquee no text no nothing else just wondering what caused it.

In this layout, I am layering the BG over the snap which is why the box is transparent. Everything else should be layered on top of the BG.  I Just checked the script again and the snap is layer one then the the ExtendedObjects.add_image BG everthing else follows after that. I wonder if there is something going on with the extendedObjects and Linux. Like I said, it works fine on windows but for some reason in Linux everything is out of wack. We'll get to the bottom of it sooner or later :p

Tried it in a vbox with XP all other layouts work fine..but the one in question comes up blank (black). Might be a vb problem though. So just real fast I put the background on your spinwheel layout. Wheel everything comes up. So I pasted the particle animation in to see it it would work. All my text vanished...like the other one. I'll keep at it.

Thanks man, I had a sneaky suspicion extended objects might have something to do with it. There is a debug option that liquid included in the user_config that you can turn on. That might help too.
