Cosmo theme v.1.1 Mod
« on: May 31, 2019, 05:57:44 AM »
Hi All,

This is a modification (mod) of the original layout package created by Cosmo and published on the Attract Mode forums.

The original Cosmo's Theme v1.1 can be found here:
http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=1586.0

I have modified the following:
---------------------------------
- Added new dedicated layouts for: 'Sega Naomi' and 'Sammy Atomiswave' systems
- Added custom layouts for: 'Commodore Amiga' and 'Spectrum ZX' (minor changes)
- Added layout code to play random sounds when navigating the game wheels and main menu wheel (just like Hyperspin)
- Added layout menu option to turn these random sounds on/off (Configure menu->Displays->'layout name'->layout options->Random wheel sounds)
- Added a 'sound' folder with all the required mp3 sounds to each layout
- Modified layout code so wheel logos are bigger and more dense (10 per screen instead of 8 ) - based on Cosmo's work in the "Robospin-like-themes" thread
- Modified layout pointers so they appear larger
- Replaced default main menu pointer
- Added a default font named "outline_pixel-7" - looks cool IMO
- Included game text filter option in the random color option, and changed the way it is presented (bottom right corner)
- Added and modified various systems and main menu art items

Download:
------------
For your convenience I have packaged the entire mod so it is easy to download and use. I also include here Cosmo's original link to the required systems snap video folder.

Snap videos: https://mega.nz/#!x9AQ2KaT!NmNzWGnKTAO4p1UHMnbnS0PTs20k124-oLcHp44N4kc

Installation:
-------------
1. Download the zip file and extract it to your computer
2. Install included font "outline_pixel-7.ttf" into your windows font library (double click font file and press the 'install' button on the upper left corner)
3. Copy the content of the Menu-art folder (including the snaps folder) to your menu-art folder within attract mode
4. Copy the content of layout folder to your attract mode layout folder

Hope you like it.

hi sorry for the wait
but i am quite a newbie
my internet connection is very slow
so it took some time to upload
i uploaded my changes
i only modified some i needed
and added some missing
i compared your layout to cosmos
to try to understand how it works
i mixed up the layouts and it came out quite
the way i want it
but i have some questions if you dont mind
do i always need a menu-art folder?
i have a  handheld, console ,favorites and AM setup menu
using the main menu layout i had problems with the AM setup
showed me everything wrong
so i created a single layout for AM setup
based on the main menu layout
but including the folders cartart, fanart...
works fine ;)
but only for a single system , adding a second system, mashes everything up ;)
how do i change the font?
can i make the videos show longer, at least 30 seconds in the main menu ?
anyway thanks for your layout, i learned a lot
but i got a long road ahead ;)

Thanks for uploading. First I must stress that I am quite the noob myself when it comes to creating layouts.
As for the menu-art, that folder comes default with the attract mode installation so I guess that this is how the application likes it.
What I don't undestrand is why you locate all your layout graphics in the menu-art folder. In the main Attract folder there is a 'layout' folder, There you place each layout within it's own folder. So let's say you have 'snes room' layout, it will be in 'snes room' folder. A second theme you may call 'arcade layout' will be in it's own folder named 'arcade layout' and so on. This seperates the layouts and may prevent the problems you are having.

Here is a screenshot of my main Attract mode folder:

And here is a screenshot of my layout folder that is with the main Attract  folder:

Using a clean install of Attract Mode, all I see is a black main menu display and a broken arcade display - see screenshot.
It is better you upload a series of screenshots or a video on youtube.

Cheers

hi Yaron2019,
sorry my mistake
i uderstand now what u mean
i mixed a little bit between your layout and cosmos
to try it out the way i want it to look
so heres my layout for pokemon mini
i will send you the system layout
but i created one for the main menu as well
for i divided my retropie in handhelds and consoles
so i only wanted these 2 menus to appear at the start
i wanted the boart and the cartridge to show up
so i added 2 folders to my roms folder

artwork    boxart          /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pokemini/boxart
artwork    fanart          /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pokemini/cart
artwork    flyer           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pokemini/flyer
artwork    marquee         /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pokemini/marquee
artwork    snap            /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pokemini/snap
artwork    wheel           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pokemini/wheel

and here are the settings for the layout options
let me know if it works out
