New Robospin-Like Themes
« on: July 07, 2019, 07:07:02 AM »
New themes: Amiga, Atari ST, Atari 8-Bit, Commodore 64, Sharp X68000, Apple 2, Spectrum ZX, Panasonic 3DO, Atari 7800, Bally Astrocade, Emerson Arcadia 2001 and Microsoft MSX2.

I have updated ALL the themes and added new ones. In order to minimize duplication of files, all the themes now refer to a single 'sounds' folder located in the main attract folder. The themes also don't try to force the usage of the 'outline' font and will use whatever font chosen for Attract Mode through the 'General' settings. Scanlines over snap videos are now always rendered before the cab artwork so there is no visual problems. I also added a different more subtle scanlines png file for the video snaps so it looks more realistic.

All options including Boxart, Cartart and Wheelsounds can be turned on / off.

Installation (links below):
Download the 'Sounds' zip file, extract the folder and copy it to the main Attract folder.
If you want the font, download it and install it into windows (double click the font file and press the install button in the window that opened)
Download the themes you want, extract the folders and copy them to the attract mode layout folder.

A variation of the background for the Amiga theme - a combination of the Amiga workbench environment and Amiga bouncing ball mesh from the famous demo (set to 'Retro' in 'Select BG Image' from the displays menu).

These are great, but it seems like it selects a random box art, instead of the box art for the currently selected game?

Interesting. Haven't ever seen any bug of that nature on my side. I actually didn't rewrite almost any of the code, instead I used proven code from robospin and cosmo-theme.
Can you find a pattern for this bug or is it constant?
Also, with what of the themes I posted here does it happen and what version of Attract Mode do you use?

Cheers

I figured it out -- there was no "boxart" entry set in my emulator's art sources. (I could have sworn I set that!) Apparently if it's not set, AM can find the directory in the layout folder, but it won't pick the right box. I'm not sure if that's intentional behavior, but I guess it could be handy if you wanted to shuffle some images.

After your second post I successfully recreated this bug on my system by moving the boxart folder from the menu-art folder to the layout folder of the system I was testing. Same result - random boxes.
Nice catch. Thanks for figuring it out. I opened a bug report on this.
