[Released] Nostalgic Build, theme per system AM+
« on: March 02, 2024, 12:35:44 PM »
Showcase build for Attract Mode +  showing off the power of Attract Mode front end.

-Individual nostalgic themes per system
-Fully automatic synch with Microsoft Game Pass (view new releases from your own front end)
-Achievements System
-Stats
-Mega menu (top selling games, related systems, theme switching, filters, game manuals, system details)
-Automatic new game detected (shows last 20 newly added games)
-Last played section
-Magazines, Arcades, Consoles, Computers, Collections, Collectables (Amiibos)
-Full genre / sub genre section
-Many original game menu recreations
-1000's of custom artworks

This is a showcase build so no games or emulators are included, but it's easy to add your own, just replace the fake rom files and add the emulators.

I'll be adding to it and will release future updates, but figured I'd share it after 2 years building it, rather than continuing a never ending project in private :-)

Extract and run Launch Attract Mode.exe

Massive thanks to @tankman3737  who's helped a lot with a bunch of the layouts, in fact when I'd given up on ideas for some he'd put in hours of work just to get them to where we both liked them.  Also just as a friend and sounding point for ideas, you've been a massive help buddy!  Also he's created a few from scratch in the collections section, Sonic / Mario & Halo collection themes.

Thanks also to @Chadnaut , who was an absolute star and let me get early use of his sequence module and helped code up the animations for the Xbox360 layout & several others.  He's also built some other cool stuff like Mask Module which I've used in some layouts.

@Oomek , the Ninja keeping the Attract mode build relevant and always being on hand to help people when they've hit a brick wall.  You make this community special mate, wouldn't be the same without you.  Along with the awesome modules you've made for us to use: wheel, grid, inertia among others.

@yaron, big thanks for helping me get my head around fe.nv, recently played stuff, I've pretty much stolen what you did there and adjusted it to my needs.  Cheers buddy!

Everyone on the Attract Mode discord, cheers for your help when I've asked.  It's great getting to build your own creation, when I've struggled at points you've all been super helpful.   More credits in readme.

A few more theme additions:

Atari 7800: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tKs51vvfm4

-No 3d cart artwork, so I built my own using 2d assets in Attract Mode and animated with Inertia

Sony Playstation 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5mmmmZIHcM

-Rolling disc animation and some cool menu effects using zorder

Sony Playstation 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcm8V2MvsXM

-No fancy effects in this one, just a nice built up theme in photoshop.

Xbox 360 Theme add on: https://youtu.be/JNon_UKW6UY?si=vr8nWkFkRA2G320-

This might just be the best theme yet, Microsoft Xbox 360 theme, built in photoshop and brought to life with Attract Mode +

This one's using a new Attract Mode + module by Chadnaut called Sequence, this is an advanced preview copy, but it's looking incredible from my perspective.  Big thank you to Chadnaut, who basically wrote the majority of the animations in this theme using it.  I've now got my head around it, so will be using it for themes going forward.   The big bonus on sequence is stackable animations, so you can do lots of cool sequences very easily with it.

https://github.com/Chadnaut/Attract-Mode-Modules/tree/master/modules/sequence

Interactable features:

-Toggable menu reflections (massive thanks to Tankman3737, I couldn't get this to work, but he very kindly spent the time getting it working and looking great!)
-Animated ripples on menu floor
-Disc tray opens and closes
-Disc pops into tray and closes with tray
-Power button follows original Xbox 360 load sequence
-Tray eject button presses and depressed with tray animations
-Custom menu following Xbox 360 NXE theme, but with my own twist on it.
-Custom meta screen, meta disc animation.
-Toggle full screen on / off

Big shout out to Chadnaut and Tankman3737, you guys are awesome!

Hey @Giacomo1982 thanks for the kind words :-)    PS5 is just a personal thing for me, eventually in the future we might see an emulator, but for myself, I just like the concept of seeing the games that were exclusives on PS5 (at least until PC ported, in their own artworks (disc/box) which I've made myself aswell.   But yeah for now sadly just pc ports

Couple of additions:

NeoGeo Pocket Colour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTU2fiRTN_s&ab_channel=Zestful

-Thumbstick moves up/left/down/right as you move your real life controller
-Original Neo Geo Colour menu recreation
-Current time as per OG menu

Uzebox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQYHuXFWK0I&t=15s&ab_channel=Zestful

Collobaration on this one with TankMan3737 he came up with this incredible blades menu within the tablet, which looks and works great & initial theme build with the CRT.   I've skinned a nostalgic room vibe around this with photoshop and added some hand animations to it, I think it's turned out great.

Interactive features:

-Interactive tablet, using TankMan3737's amazing blade menu.
  -Active menu indicator
-Menu expands to show cart and game story
-Hand swipes up and down as you navigate the menu
-CRT, with a right hand next game preview (if going forwards in the menu)

Using Chadnaut's sequence for the hand animations which is an advanced preview copy: https://github.com/Chadnaut/Attract-Mode-Modules/tree/master/modules/sequence

Hi, your themes are really beautiful, but I was wondering why you don't share such beautiful themes? I understand that everyone decides what to do, but wouldn't it be nice to let us have fun with your themes too? ;)

Hi manzarek,

Thanks for the kind words.  On the 1st post on this thread I've mentioned I'll be sharing it when completed.   It'll be a complete build you'll just have to add your own games, .   A lot of the themes are using bespoke stuff, and paths specific to the build, so I'm not planning to share until it's all finished.  Similar idea to how zpaolo11x has released his.

Couple of additions since last update:

JVC X'Eye theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nR_ITywyswc&ab_channel=Zestful

-Console has both CD's and Carts, and the theme knows how to behave for each
--CD tray opens for CD's, and stays closed when carts.
--Cart flaps open when Carts are inserted, but stay closed when CD's are used.
-TV channel cycles with game

This was quite a tricky one to pull off.   Big thanks to Oomek for helping me with some animation quirks which resulted from my sloppy coding & showing me how to more efficiently implement it too!

I'll probably look at making my own 3d carts in the future, as the ones from emumovies look flat as a pancake at this angle.

Last Played Section: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2an06wPcJNA&ab_channel=Zestful

-Last played recorded for last 10 games played.
-Main screen video updates to show last played game snap for last played section.
-Nostaligic theme for last played section
-Around 150 system artworks created for the photo you see on the right of the theme.
-Game fanart, which defaults to a random generic artwork if no fanart exists for that game.

Couple of recent additions to the build.

Nintendo Wii:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UM32hpS7rc

Features:
-Original Nintendo Wii menu recreation
-Extension of original Wii game details screen, with some additional meta like boxes, controller art, story
-Recreation of disc inert console lighting effect
-Recreation of controller synch animation
-Original working time/date as per original menu theme

Special thanks to Tankman3737, who got the grid up and running with the curved corners, which sounds easy but is actually quite a challenge to do.  Thanks Oomek also for your awesome Grid Module and Chadnaut for Sequence module (early preview copy for testing) which is used here for the disc & light animations & Mask which is used to curve the corners of the grid.

Sega Master System:

Features:

-Support for both media types, theme knows when to animate one and not the other
--Cart animation
--If game was a card, card will animate into slot at the bottom of the console
