Regardless, you're a damn good programmer and we mortals appreciate your hard work. ;)

How do you do this?
I read the hyperspin.nut file but i'm coming up with a blank.
I downloaded a hyperspin theme.
it's just a zip with some files in it.
i'm just not able to piece together the proper directory structure in the layout folder for the hyperspin theme to work.
help?
i feel stupid because i'm just not getting it. LOL!

FYI 2.0 compiles fine with gles flag on rpi3 i'm just trying to see if hyperspin themes will run on the rpi2/3.

Nitro-

Copy the hyperspin Media folder to the AM layout folder. Then create display names to match the emulator names in the Media folder. So, for instance to setup Nintendo 64 we create a display name that matches this same name in Media. After, the display name is created, then select "Media" for the layout. AM checks the sub directories of Media for a name match, like Nintendo 64. So, make sure the name is an exact match.

One more thing to note, the wheel art and video snaps are still defined in your emulator.cfg. So, it doesn't matter where you keep this type of media, just define the proper path to it.

at work but will try when I get home.

will set up like so.
download digdug2 hyperspin theme & extract.
create dir. structure like:

./attract/layouts/digdug2/"media files"

Then create a display called "digdug2" and assign mame list to it.

Why wouldn't the wheel work?
would I need to do anything else to make it work?

Thanks.

You don't create display for media  ... the displays you need to have are the usual ones (MAME and so on).
When you have the Hyperspin main folder, will be a folder called Media and inside has a specific folder naming/structure.
Get the MEDIA folder in AM/Layouts forlder and set the display layout to Media.
And set AM to show displays menu when you start it.
AM does not display wheels in main menu (displaymenu) only in the system default theme (game list).

ah-ha!
I've never used hyperspin so i just wasn't getting it.
I've got it now.
Thank you.

Default theme seems to work on RPI3.
But the wheel gets jammed if there is missing artwork between games.
you have to keep pressing up or down to get through the blanks.

will play around with it some more.

Wheel works for me in AM using hyperspin default theme.
Is it not supposed to work?

Yes, the wheel is suppose work with the Default theme - not to be confused with the Main Menu themes.

BTW, I just created a Default theme for mame based on robospin, if you want to give it a whirl.

I'd like to give that a try on the Rpi3 if your offering.  Edit: Saw it got it. Thanks

Nitrogen can you show your directory structure for getting the Hyperspin theme going? Do you just create the Media folder in the layout directory and dump the theme in? I have also never used Hyperspin so I have no idea how it works, just go my head around how the standard themes work. lol

Fin-

Hyperspin, basically has a Media sub-folder for its themes, artwork, and videos for different systems. You just drag or copy the entire Media folder to attract/layouts.

If you only use mame then you can just copy this \HyperSpin\Media\MAME\ to Attract\layouts. Then just follow this thread on how to get it working. The Media\mame folder has 4 sub-folders, one of them being themes. This is where you will find your themes.

The wheel art and videos can be stored anywhere, just define the path in your emulator.cfg.
