Console Theme WIP
« on: June 03, 2015, 10:23:41 PM »
Finally played around with an actual theme today! I don't get to do that often :)

Wanted to mess with reflections and I'm trying to work on a new "conveyor" option using my animate module so I decided to come up with a theme.

This is what I have so far:

A title/info thing drops down, then fades after a few seconds:

I really want to thank verion for the work he's doing! I used some assets he provided and one I found on google to get this TV result:

I'm attaching that image here, in case anyone is interested in using it. The theme is still a ways off.

Maybe you've wanted tv to be that way - but it looks too grey-ish and faded to me.

The trick is - the scanlines can't be too dense. You can't use scanlines that are designed for shader overlay - because you'll be getting too dark or too pale image. This is because your snap preview is relatively small.

Belive me - I've spent couple of hours of experimenting to come to that conclusion. :)

Below zelda screenshot with my scanlines overlayed on top of it.

This is
- zelda image 640x480
- my scanlines fit to zelda size without any cropping

I'm attaching my overlay png also - this is the same as in robospin thread

Maybe the effect looks little exaggerated - but remeber, that preview image will be likely 2x smaller and it will look ok

You beat me to it. I was going to start working on something similar to XBMC. Now, if you just added an effect of a continuous scrolling bar with wheel art you have something very similar to XBMC ROM Browser. Just add some HD backgrounds and overlays for txt info for the finishing touches.

Here is a video using the art_strip mod using - padding to create the illusion of a continuous bar with wheel art. I can create some wheel art with solid background to create this film effect if you need it.
