General / Attempted to compile AM onto Bionic Beaver Ubuntu (18.04 LTS)
« on: November 08, 2021, 04:44:00 PM »
Hello everyone. In the terminal, I attempted to follow the steps for compiling onto Ubuntu Bionic Beaver on my Odroid XU4 (18.04):

https://github.com/mickelson/attract/wiki/Compiling-on-Ubuntu-Bionic-Beaver-(18.04-LTS)-amd64-desktop

I then attempted to type attract and hit enter, but instead of loading the frontend, the following message was displayed:

Config file not found: /home/odroid/.attract/attract.cfg
MESA-LOADER: failed to load driver: exynos
Setting vertical sync not supported
Segmentation fault

Is there any way to fix these issues? I was able to load Attract Mode on my Pi 4B through the experimental build, but I'd love to try it with the XU4 now. I'm interested in testing N64, Dreamcast, Saturn, and PSP titles. Thanks for your input.  :)

General / Need a guide to compile AM for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
« on: October 14, 2021, 02:28:32 PM »
Hello everyone. I made an attempt to run some commands to get RetroArch installed on my Ubuntu OS. I would like to build Attract Mode so I can add a nice frontend too. Does anyone have a guide or a list of commands I can use to build it on 20.04 LTS? Thank you for your help.  ;D

General / Any method of compiling AM for Odroid XU4 with ARES?
« on: October 12, 2021, 03:50:07 PM »
Hello. I just wanted to ask if anyone has created a recent guide on what commands should be used to prepare Attract Mode as an optional frontend for the Odroid XU4 with Retro Arena (ARES) installed. I attempted to do it myself, but I received a message which read: "Failed to open X11 display: make sure the display environment variable is set correctly. Aborted."

If anyone has an idea of how to do this, please let me know. Thanks for your input.  :)

General / No sound from .mp4 files in Attract Mode
« on: October 03, 2021, 02:21:04 PM »
I have installed the Raspberry Pi4 version of Attract Mode. I recently updated the script. When I loaded Attract Mode from the prompt, the main menu appeared, but none of the wheels produced the sounds from their respective .mp4 files. I checked my error log and noticed that it produced the following line:

AL lib: (EE) ALCplaybackAlsa_mixerProc: Wait timeout... buffer size too low?

Is there any method I should use to correct this issue? I'd like to get the audio back from these .mp4 files. They would also play a preview of some of the gameplay from each system (Main menu) or the iso/rom (system menu). At this point, no sound is produced when you highlight any of the wheels.

Thanks for your help.  :)

Hello everyone. I have attempted to use these themes on Attract Mode for the Raspberry Pi 4B. I just wanted to ask if anyone knows how to keep the top and bottom half of the NES Classic,  Famicom Classic, Genesis, and PSX Mini displays from disappearing. I placed the default.png and the default-menu.png inside the systems folder for each of those respective consoles, but their skins are not showing up. I also would like to know how to setup the button configuration for each of these (including the SNES Classic). The mini snap appears to be working for each of these, but I would also like to know how you add the text (game description) near the larger snap preview that you see whenever the down button is pressed on the control pad. These are really nice editions to my collection of themes, but if anyone has ideas on how to fix these issues, please let me know. Thanks  :).

General / Need help getting PC Engine CD bin files to work
« on: December 26, 2016, 05:14:32 PM »
Hello everyone. I enjoy using the Attract Mode front end to launch NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, TG16, PS1, Sega Master System, Mame, and Neo Geo roms/isos. I have run into a problem launching PC Engine .bin and .cue files, however. When I click on the A button to start the game, it simply cycles back to the screen showing the snap video I selected as a demonstration. I'll include an a copy of the runcommand.log I got here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FI4-AirrOsjri5LPk6RFPzZ6PP4tWYdEtxbbdPkgr1o/edit?usp=sharing.

I attempted to use /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh under the Executable section (under Edit Emulator).
I also used 0 _SYS_pcengine "[romfilename]" under the Command Arguments section (also under Edit Emulator). I left a copy of syscard3.pce in the BIOS folder, where I think you need to place any important system files for Attract Mode and Emulation Station. The funny part is that when I launch these games under Emulation Station, they are able to run without a problem. I would rather use Attract Mode though. I also checked the syntax used in the .cue file to make sure that the spelling and text were identical to that of the .bin file. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but let me say thanks to anyone here who has the solution.

I am a total noob, but I was able to setup the video clips of Attract Mode in the 'snap' folder (.mp4 files) and the posters of my Mame games (.png files) in the 'flyer' folder. I went to the Hyperspin site to download the other files for those games as well. I tried to get them to show up, but even after I placed the .png files inside the 'wheel' folder, they would not appear :-(. Are there any steps that I am missing here?

P.S.- I was also curious about setting up the 'rocket' that points to the games as you move them around to make your selection too. I saw this in Floob's Youtube videos, but I never saw it as an option in the Robospin layout. If anyone has good recommendations for layouts that can be used for N64, SNES, NES, Genesis, Sega Master System, Neo Geo, and Final Burn, please let me know.

Thanks for your help  :).
