clic in >>exit shortcut key<< and you return to AM automatically
This is one of the most important functions and is what makes this front end so beautiful ^ - ^ ... YES, I LOVED IT !!!! AND LOVED VERY MUTCH!!! (for me its a best front-end in this moment)

But this use of the hotkey is not a "hack trick" that can cause problems in the future, right? is this use normal? Its ok i create a hotkey for every emulator ok?

Other SPECIAL thing to me...

1 - have a way or how i make a exit shortcut key "hotkey" not, click hotkey and back to AM... I need a hold hotkey for 5 seconds and there back to AM.. exist this way?

For example i HOLD START (button1) for 5 seconds and back to AM... you understand?

2 - Have a way to make a DEFAULT exit shortcut key "hotkey"? make a one by one its very tense with you have 200 emulators ^^

First, IMO it's always best to set/configure the emulator exit buttons/keys in the emulator itself and not in the frontend. This is the logical way to exit an emulator properly.

Answer to #1 - This can't be done directly in Attract-Mode but can be done with a key/button emulator like JoyToKey https://joytokey.net/en/ or something similar.

Answer to #2 - Modify the \attractmode\default-emulator.cfg to contain your exit keys/buttons before creating the emulators.

Emulators / Re: Help with emulator AAE i use this aae.exe but...
« on: April 15, 2021, 12:02:03 AM »
This is the correct argument.

Code: [Select]
args                 [name]

make sure your \aae\aae.ini shows this or the correct path to these files, also make sure that your \attractmode\emulators\aae.cfg has the correct path
Code: [Select]
[main]

mame_rom_path = M:\Emulators\AAE\roms

make sure you have the correct romset or version of the roms needed for your aae emulator

try a few different game to make sure it isn't a an issue with a specific game

take hermine.potter's advice and test on the command line

Emulators / Re: Best Compression for Specific Emulators

Dont have anyway create one bat for extract and convert for .CHD and delete the .gz automatic? I have extract manually?  :P :'(

This can be done but it's not a smart approach. There will likely be errors and if you remove all the original files and unzipped files in one script you won't be able to correct them. This would result in broken games with no way to fix them other than a backup or redownload.

Here's the post I think I remember. http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=3614.msg24987#msg24987

Maybe you'll have a font path issue after creating the attract.cfg?

I remember seeing another post a little while back with a similar issue on some flavor of linux. I believe they manually created or copied the attract.cfg from another system and it solved their issue.

Another thing to consider is file permissions. Have you tried as root or using "sudo"?

General / Re: $PROGDIR variable not working on Attract Mode for MacOS
« on: March 19, 2021, 11:34:23 PM »
$PROGDIR is a variable and is OS dependent. It seems that this variable isn't native to OSX. This issues has nothing to do with AM but with OSX. The simplest thing to do in AM is to just use a full, dynamic or root path to resolve your issue.

You can add any variable/path to any OS. If you prefer this method, you'll need to make a modification to your OS and then AM will "follow the rules" of your OS configuration. OSX, Mac and Apple forums will be more helpful on how to set this up on your machine.

Read the whole thread and follow the examples. You need to add the systems to the attract.cfg too.

General / Re: rom in subfolder?

Having two roms with the same name, even if they are in different folders, is going to be a issue. Here's how I think Attract-Mode (AM) can solve it for you. Remove the second rom folder from you existing emulator in AM and create a new emulator in AM with the same settings except for the other rom folder. This will cause each AM emulator to only use one rom path. Once both of these are emulator setups are work properly you can combine the romlists in AM to get the romlist you want.

1. Change your existing advmame emulator configuration in AM (I'll assume it called advmame in my example) to only use one rom folder
Code: [Select]
executable           C:\attract\sistems\capcom\advmame.exe
args                 -m "[romfilename]"
rompath             C:\attract\sistems\capcom\roms
romext               .zip
system               arcade

2. Create a new emulator in AM and call it advmame2 (only for my example, you can use whatever you want but need to adjust accordingly) with this configuration use the other rom folder
Code: [Select]
executable           C:\attract\sistems\capcom\advmame.exe
args                 -m "[romfilename]"
rompath             C:\attract\sistems\capcom\roms2
romext               .zip
system               arcade

3. Backup your existing romlists that use advmame... just in case things don't work the way you want so you can revert back to what you have now.

4. Regenerate romlists for advmame and advmame2 emulators in AM

5. Create a combined romlist of advmame and advmame2. This might take a while to build if you have a lot roms.
    Configure-->Emulators-->Generate Collection/Rom List-->Set your advmame and advmame2 game emulators to “Yes” and then click “Generate Collection/Rom List” and enter the name “advmame_all” (just for my example, again you can choose any name here)

6. Hide your two split romlist displays from AM GUI
    Configure-->Displays-->advmame-->Show in Cycle = no
    Configure-->Displays-->advmame-->Show in Menu = no
    Configure-->Displays-->advmame2-->Show in Cycle = no
    Configure-->Displays-->advmame2-->Show in Menu = no

You should now have a new display called advmame_all that has both versions of the same roms in different folders that all work correctly in AM.

You might want to look at this thread on similar solutions on how to get exactly what you need from AM http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=1165.msg8455#msg8455.

Advmame.rc is the AdvanceMAME emulator configuration file. It holds all the settings for the emulator. It should be in the same folder as advmame.exe.

Advmame.rc is AdvanceMAME's version of regular MAME's mame.ini configuration file.

what I saw the most on this forum was this configuration of zsnes. what are the other steps? for the advmame? I was unable to access the site you submitted. I already tried to make a configuration similar to openbor but I had no result

Add your additional "dir_rom" (rompath)  to the advmame.rc configuration file for AdvanceMAME.

Your executable is wrong and maybe your argument as well.

I think that mahuti solution works best. You can also call your emulator in the "exe" and then the correct core and rom in the "arg".
