Advance mame not working in attract mode

So randomly today any rom that's uses advance mame emulator will not launch propley in attract mode. When I launch the game I can hear the sound and I can tell the contoller is working but the display is just frozen on the attract mode screen. Any other emulators work fine.

I quit out and tested the same roms using advance mame on emulation station and that worked fine any ideas?

Update the emulator. But our might lose controls

Configure-->General-->Window Mode = Fullscreen Mode

Which config file would I edit this in and where abouts is it located sorry fairly new to this learning more everyday
