Multi-layout that uses listbox or wheel via options.
« on: August 04, 2015, 11:33:16 AM »
Choose either listbox or Wheel. Listbox also has wheel select that helps it contrast with the text. It also has two shaders " crt & bloom". Three different backgrounds to choose from. Option to turn off marquee and I'm sure something is being left out.  ;)

Nice job. Is this something you'll be sharing with the rest of us? These layouts done by the more experienced members of this forum make for great learning resources. I'd love to be able to pick it apart.

Tomek-

Thanks... That's exactly what I did, dissecting Raygun's layouts helped me tremendously. That, and a little trial and error of course.  Ergo, the reason that I've created so many layouts. Now, my layouts take a swiss army knife approach.  ;)

So, here is the mame layout. The cool thing about this layout.nut is that it can be used with all the skins I'm working on like nes, snes, genesis etc. Scales up to 1080p.

A few details for layout options:

Listbox is on by default  - turning it off, enables the wheel llke in robospin.
Shaders are turned off by default now - just enable whichever one you prefer if any.
Bg1 is default - 3 to choose from.
Check layout options for even more options.

Nah he'll share every thing eventually..I hid his token/quarter jar ;) No he will that is why he is doing it...but like every self critical artist he won't let it be seen unless he thinks it's perfect. Thus why his themes are awesome :)

Ok got a problem. if I turn the CRT shader on or the bloom effect on it kills my vids snaps. Works fine with them off...even works with the "dark shaders" and not error output that I see.

Fox-

It could be your video driver, a libs issue or the card itself. Definitely, something in that realm. I would do a google search on that video or integrated chip set and see if anyone is having issues running  shaders.

I can run shaders with any other program. I still have the same problem on another totally different machine..but I'll keep looking.

Kayser-

Sorry, for the late reply bud. I've been working on some classic arcades that I picked up. Taking a lot of my time and effort to get them back in working order again. It's a great feeling when you can bring these old classics back to life.  ;)

Anyway, I was planning on updating the layout this week with exactly what you are requesting. So, essentially replacing the text with vertical wheel art. The spin-wheel will still be an option of course. Just give me a day or two, heck it might even be today.  :)
