Attract Mode on Raspberry Pi2 with 3.5" screen?

Would it be possible to run Attract Mode using one of these cheap low end 3.5" LCD screen (480x320)  you see on Ebay and Amazon?

I know it has a terrible refresh rate (~18fps), but I thought it would be fun none the less. I know you can't use it from Emulationstation. Something about framebuffers not being supported.

I figured that this screen can display the Raspian GUI, so maybe there's a chance it would work for Attract Mode.

I only can get a white screen to show up. Is there a minimum resolution required?

what is the resolution of the theme you are using?
Or does it just go white as soon as you run it?

I'm using Raspian and followed the installation instructions on the wiki. It goes white right when you launch it. I can get back to the console by using the ESC + up + enter. I believe it's on the initial config screen.
