Launching Windows games in Attract Mode?
« on: July 20, 2016, 09:07:19 AM »
Hello Attract Moders,

I am a beginner when it comes to using this great tool and I have a project going on for the kids in an asylum accommodation here in Sweden.

I want to use free to play Windows games and I am currently setting up Spelunky classic (feel free to suggest more to the list).
How do I do this?

URL to the game is: C:\spelunky_classic\Spelunky.exe

Other front-end GUI:s do not work on this Dell Dimension 3000 with Windows XP in 32-bit but it does deliver with Attract Mode.
I suspect this is alot simpler then it sounds but I thought I would ask the pros.

Thanks in advance.

It launches games and this opens new doors for the project!

However, attract mode stays in the front and is in the way, am I missing some setting or such?
Both Cave Story and Spelunky Classic act the same.

(Emulators work like a charm.)

@Nya_Prao
try this:

-Hide Console
Edit attract.cfg > hide_console yes

-set Attract to Fullscreen:
TAB > General > Window Mode : Fullscreen Mode
or
edit attract.cfg > windows_mode fullscreen

-use fullscreen parameters of game (instead of window-mode)
some games uses their own parameters setting fullscreen & so it doesn't loose focus anymore
edit your_game.bat > your_game.exe -fullscreen_parameter_of_your_game

AM Version : 2.6.1
Input : Mad Catz Brawlstick; Mouse; Keyboard; Xbox360 Wireless
Cabinet : Yes
OS : Windows10 Pro
System : Dell Precision T3500 ; Intel X5650 ; 12GB RAM

Thank you for the suggestions, I will look for them and download as many as I can.

I tried the following (adding it to the general-section?) sadly to no effect:
"Edit attract.cfg > hide_console yes"

It was already set to:
"TAB > General > Window Mode : Fullscreen Mode"

This worked great for Frogatto:
-use fullscreen parameters of game (instead of window-mode)
some games uses their own parameters setting fullscreen & so it doesn't loose focus anymore
edit your_game.bat > your_game.exe -fullscreen_parameter_of_your_game

However, the games still reside behind AM (after a short loading screen surfaces and goes away).
Really weird, almost as weird as the fact that Spelunky Classic works fine but displays a crash box after having shut down.  ???
