Retropie 4.02 Attract mode 2.1 keyboard not working

I have recently installed Attract Mode 2.1 on a Raspberry Pi running Retropie 4.02 following the Attract Mode wiki and also Floobs guide:-

When I go to configure the Emulators section the keyboard does not allow any input in any fields. The keyboard works fine for everything else just not entering data into fields such as Executable Path, Arguments and Roms Path.

I have tried without anything else plugged into the USB ports of the Pi and also using a different keyboard. It just doesn't allow me to type anything.

If I configure Controls within the Attract Mode menu I can assign letters to functions such as Page Up and Page Down the keyboard just doesn't work in the fields areas.

I also tried to add a Display and when prompted to type a Name for the Display the keyboard doesn't work either.

Any help much appreciated.

I managed to get an answer from Floob of via YouTube.

The problem has to do with Running Attract in X mode.

If I run Attract Mode from a run command i.e. just typing attract rather than typing xinit attract the keyboard works perfectly.

Once again Floob has saved my day.
