Observation regarding snap formats on raspberry pi
« on: September 20, 2016, 08:09:31 PM »
I am running a raspberry pi 3 with the latest image. I have 4 systems configured. Master system, Genesis, Super Nintendo and Nintendo. I plan on continuing and seeing how many this thing will run reliably. Anyway, my observation this far concerning video snaps is this: .flv format is better than MP4. I've loaded 1200 or so video snaps to the nes system in MP4 format. Attract mode would choke on playing them every time. I've converted them to .flv and have not had any issue with playback. It does stutter frame rates sometimes... is anyone over clocking?

I use the EmuMovies low resolution videos in mp4 and they work fine on the Pi 2 & 3. High resolution mp4 files have issues on a Pi. There are several threads about this.

I have the Pi 3 overclocked in everyway (CPU, GPU, RAM, SDCARD, etc.) and things are fine. If the .flv videos work for you that works too. It they stutter, maybe try the low resolution mp4 files.

Can the snaps from emumovies be had in packs? I would hate to have to download all that one by one... it would be nice to drop the files in their folders and not have to run all of them through a converter. Snaps have been the Bain of my exsistance here lately as I try and get all my displays in order.

If you're a emumovies premium member there is a tool that will download them all and name them to match your roms names. That's what I use.
