Also the Attract Mode Github page has a help page for filters.  Some good examples there too.

@ Mark Norville

Looking at your batch file .. after launching the URL, are you also terminating Attract Mode itself?  What happens when the web browser is closed? Do you return to Attract Mode like you should?

It seems that would be like launching a game using Retroarch, batch terminating Attract Mode, and then when done playing the game, quitting Retroarch and returning to the Windows desktop instead of Attract Mode.

As Hermine Potter has mentioned, you should be launching the "emulator" for the URL, using it, and then when closing out the "emulator" you are returned to Attract Mode (and have the "emulator" terminated when doing so).  "emulator" could be Firefox, etc.

He was asking you what the rest of your AM configuration was. His question was written in plain English (not gibberish as you say). As a side note, I see you've stated you've only recently began working with Attract Mode.  Coming onto the forum and insulting a tenured member (hermine potter) doesn't show your best intentions (and knowledge of how Attract Mode works).

The Retroarch core doesn't support Jaguar CD.

I've never used it .. but I did find this FAQ for it.

Scroll down to number #9.  Looks like you have to provide a preset ID value for each game.

You should also be able to add a filter to the Display for:

FileIsAvailable = 1

That should only shows games where the rom file exists.  You can have your romlist file contain every known MAME game, but only show the ones you have rom files for.

General / 3D Printed Retro Computer … PI-IV/B
« on: September 24, 2021, 08:39:22 AM »
Hey everyone!

I’ve completed my 3D printing project and wanted to show it.

I 3D printed a retro styled computer case and installed a Raspberry Pi 4B into it.  I’ve setup RetroPie and I use the Attract Mode frontend for the menu system.

Here’s the Youtube video showcasing it.

https://youtu.be/Ia2gM-Pa3So

It was a fun project and I had a great time building it.

I’ve got it setup using a 4TB external HDD for rom storage.

My Attract Mode build has over 150 real systems … with around 405 or so different menu wheels (including collections, etc).

If you want to know more or see more details of the build … let me know.

Enjoy!!

The 3D STL files are located here on Thingiverse.

For a full list of the systems I have running on it, you can access my Google drive online document.

I've just completed and uploaded a new set of 16x9 platform videos for use with Attract Mode (and any frontend really).

These are 16x9 in size (1080p/30) and are meant to be used used full screen.

Here's a Youtube link with a quick demo of them.

You'll need to update/install the FFMPEG core within the Retroarch updater.

Here's my AM config file for it (I use relative paths .. so just change it to match your setup)

-------------------

# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.3.0
#
executable           ..\..\Emulators\RetroArch\retroarch.exe
args                 -L cores\ffmpeg_libretro.dll "[romfilename]"
rompath              ..\..\Movies\
romext               .mp4

The ffmpeg is just another core you have to install like all the others.

While I don't use VLC ... as another option, you can use Retroarch (if you're using a Windows PC like I am anyway).

Retroarch has the ffmpeg core that you can use - even with a controller - just like a normal core.  Just launch Retroarch, use the ffmpeg core, and pass it the filename of the *.mp4 file.

Boom...instant video player.

General / Re: Relative paths problem for portable mode ?!
« on: August 24, 2021, 08:20:47 AM »
I'm guessing you also have your emulators located here:

h:\Attract\emulators\emulators\snes9x

Have you tried this version of the line?

executable           emulators\snes9x\snes9x.exe
args                 -fullscreen "[romfilename]"
rompath              ..\games\snes

I haven't seen mention of the rompath line above yet (with 2 dots and the \ in it) .. so see if that works.

==========

I can say that relative paths DO work great on a Windows PC as that's what I use.  However, my HDD looks like this:

H:\Attract
H:\Emulators
H:\Roms

and I use relative paths in all of my AM emulator.cfg files for both emulators and rom folder locations.

Here's my SNES emulators.cfg file:

executable           ..\..\Emulators\RetroArch\retroarch.exe
args                 -L cores\snes9x_libretro.dll "[romfilename]"
rompath              ..\..\Roms\snes\

To me, it seems that the AM emulator.cfg files "starting location" is the directory which the emulator.cfg files reside in.  In my case its "H:\Attract\emulators" .. so going up 2 directories is "H:" and then navigating down 2 directories to "H:\Roms\snes" works.

Looking at your config line above:

romext               .tap .prg .TAP .PRG

Shouldn't the rom extensions be separated by semicolons?

romext               .tap;.prg;.TAP;.PRG

That may be why Attract Mode isn't finding any roms.

Themes / Re: Multi-emulator setting?
« on: June 22, 2021, 10:04:54 AM »
I don't think that functionality is available within a theme.

However, you can assign a control button to access the game info screen in AM while sitting on a game selection in a display.

TAB > CONTROLS > EDIT GAME

Once you assign a button to bring up the game info screen within AM, one of the things available to change is the emulator used.

You'll need to create AM emulator config files for each of the emulators...but this way you'd be able to quickly change them on the fly before launching that game.

There may be a way to access that functionality within AM using a plugin - but I don't recall ever seeing a plugin for that.

Emulators / Re: 5200

Its not broken, you just have to understand how a base Retropie build works and what extra manual steps you can do to set it up the same as your old Pi 3 image.  These are manual tweaks to setup the Atari 5200 system to auto-boot as an Atari 5200 instead of an Atari 800.

As mentioned above, make sure you have the BIOS files in the proper place.

Then update/create these 3 files in /opt/retropie/configs/atari5200 and you should be good to go.
