Attract only works in window mode.

Hello. I have the following setup.
Win 10
AM V2.5.1
Mame 0.203

Its taken me a long time to get everything working.
I can run/play games in Mame. I can play games from AM in windows mode.
But as soon as I change back to fillscreen or fullscreen no games play. Even in windows (No boarder) wont work.
I just get a black screen and have to Esc out to the menu.

I have tried using the Attack.exe as well as the console mode.

Any help appreciated.

"no games play" => do you hear the game sound playing, but no pictures is shown?

could you test mame version 0.204 (without setting anything; just copy a game in rom-folder of mame and setup it to AM).

My roms play fine in Mame. They work fine in AM in windows mode setting only. They wont work in any of the other screen settings. Just get black screen. no sound, Nothing. ESC key gets me back to my layout. I am using the pacman layout that comes with AM.

I not sure what changing the screen setting has to do with running the roms (games) unless it is a 64bit problem. Strange...

Me bad. Just realized there is a new version. Will d/l and try it out now.....

No different. It must be a setting I have wrong somewhere....

same problem here
I think AM-window is keeping in front, your emulator is playing in background.

on my test-system I've got the same problems you describe:
Windows 10 x64 LTSB 1607
AM 2.5.1 (x86; normal and XP-Version)
zsnes emulator + game (I'm hearing the gamesound; no picture; can't switch to emulator with ALT + TAB)

at the moment => i do not know / no solution from me
try version 2.4.0 => report us

Would you mind testing the version of Attract-Mode linked here and reporting whether it addresses your issue?:  https://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=2598.msg17907#msg17907

Try out the "Fill screen" window mode, that is the one that should (hopefully) work now

I am able to get the default (Fillscreen) working now. The others still dont work but I not to bothered about them.

Dam it... now nothing works....  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Went good for about 3 hours of game playing. Shutdown AM, came back later now I cant get any games to work again.

I going to do a full reinstall and start from scratch.

I shall try the 32 bit options...

also happens for me
when i launch am in full screen or fill or window no border..theirs a black screen and i have to exit the emulator....

Not yet. I think I may have a mame issue. I select a game press enter/select play button and it says Initiating then reverts back to AM game menu.

Did a console start with debug logging turned on...

heres the logfile. If anyone sees a problem let me know. :-)

well like i said i cant run games in fillscreen, fullscreen or window (border)
i get just a black screen.

i tried 32 bit exe but same thing. the windows doesnt change to the rom their for just a black screen.
this is with all emulators....

in config->emulators->mame try setting your working directory to ‘C:\Games\Mame’ (its currently using your attract mode directory). I’m guessing mame isn’t finding your rom files when launching from AM.

That worked!! Rookie mistake i guess.  ;D

Ok so now it is all working. I can get the default Fillscreen and Window modes to work.

I am using win 10 64bit super stripped down version.
AM 2.5.2 (its actually 2.5.1-1)
Mame 0.204

I am happy with the setup. Going to copy all the config files to a backup drive in case it goes wonky.

Is that you’re actual working directory?
My working directory of the emulator Is where they actually are and I get a black screen if not in windowed mode and this is for all emulators not just mame

My working directory Is where the emulator is and windowed mode is the only one working...
