Even within playform, those paths would not work on my pi. Keep in mind not everyone uses retropie.

Theme is looking good. I like how this is turning inti a similar but different layout. Text list needs to be more visible.

Read mame about roms and sets and you will better understand.

Check your romlist to make sure catver.ini was imported. Start your filters at a minimal category contains “x”. If it works, then add to it and see when it breaks.

Thank you very much for the reply. Is there anything in particular I'm looking for to verify that catver.ini was actually imported?

Open up the file in a text editor. You will either see the category data or not. Its very self explanatory.

Thanks...

Now,  the tag files are "favorites" files,  right?  How do I setup more than one favorites per romlist or do I have to create multiple romlists (of say my full .208 romset) and then make a favorite for each?

They are not favorites. Read the readme file. It includes example. You can include a complete romset in your romlist and have displays globally filtered by tags. Its a great way to not include 40,000 roms, but have an easy way to add an additional one later.

It would be easy to make a ruby or python script create a tag list based on files in a folder... but why?

Edit: maybe I misunderstand. Have you seen my conversion of the all killler into attract tag list?

Alliterating through objects and changing visibility could cause issues with some peoples layouts. Thats why i choose to create a new look object, change z-order and properties on that. Will put some thought to best solution. Been working on shuffle. Last week was crazy. People quitting my work, people getting suspended, having to babysit and fix coworkers work that get paid more than me, and i drove to VT for washer and dryer getting 2hrs of sleep. Have a week off now. Literally slept almost all of yesterday.

Do you mind if I examine your code a little further frizzle?

Video drivers in raspbian is the biggest concern. It looks like you could possibly use the config to force using old drivers. Give this a read.

Hi,  I downloaded the file "The Invaders.zip" from the first post and placed it in the appropriate folder for AM layouts on my Pi 3.
When I'm in AM and hit TAB, go to Displays, I select the "The Invaders" of the many layouts I have installed, back out of the AM submenu...but AM freezes. I can still SSH to do a reboot from command line.  When the pi reboots, I see code cycling at a rate too fast for me to read.

Any help is appreciated.
What details can I provide about my set up that will help?

Use SSH and launch attract so you can get your log on your desktop. Or try launching from pi and redirecting the output stream to file using "attract > log.txt“. "attract | tee -a log.txt“ might work as well,  writing standard output to terminal and file.

Makes sense I suppose. Have you tried my fadetogame plugin? If that doesn’t work, perhaps integrate something similar directly within the layout.
